Carriage House Common Room - Thursday Afternoon

When the power went out, Sam gathered up all the flashlights and candles he had in his room and made his way down to the common room. It was still light outside, but if the power wasn't restored by dark, people would need some kind of light.

He also checked the cupboards for canned goods, looking for items that could be made on top of the gas

Jake leaned in the doorway on the way back in from class, looking... a little damp from walking across from the school.

"Preparing for disaster?" he asked.

"What's that old saying? Prepare for the worst and hope for the best?" Sam replied.

Jacob shrugged. "Just saying," he replied.

"You'd think a boarding school, in an area where they get drive-by hurricanes on a yearly basis, would keep a spare generator around. Even we have one back home."

Sam shrugged. "No idea, man. Dean mentioned something about propane stoves. And we've got plenty of candles and stuff."

"Camping out in the common room tonight, then," Jake said with a laugh. "Interesting."

"That was Willow's suggestion," Sam said with a grin.

[morethanadog]

"Great minds," Jake said with a grin, despite not really knowing Willow at all as far as the mun can remember....

"Long as we got food and light, I'm thinking its a plan."

[normal_i_am]

"We should be good on both of those," Sam said.

"Looks... like, yeah," Jake agreed, looking at the things Sam had collected up.

"How do you have so many candles?"

"We use them a lot in rituals," Sam explained.

"Obviously, I should learn to stock up," he said, sticking his hand into his hair to ruffle it. Because that always helped dry off.

"Or, just buy a torch..." He might actually get more use out of a torch over a bunch of candles.

Sam considered that. "I'm not sure how effective torches would be."

"For rituals, probably not very," Jake admitted with a snort.

"Back home we're more the 'gather around open fires' types anyway. Works better than both the other options."

[normal_i_am]

"Somehow I'm thinking an open fire wouldn't work so well in the dorm," Sam said.

[morethanadog]

"Probably goes against fire regulations," Jake agreed. Not that he would try it even if he didn't think he'd get kicked out of school or anything.

Sam chuckled. "Quite possibly."
