Ohmygosh your Damon/Kat gif. O.O May I snag? Because I'm kind of in love with it.
Also, I second your entire post. Although, Elijah. I can't decide whether I love him or hate him. Everytime I think I hate him unequivocably, he does something so badass and cool that I just can't. Of course, then I remember that he'd kill Damon with no qualms, so...
Of course, help yourself!! I'm actually glad you pointed it out because I had forgotten to credit it (I don't have the talent required for GIF making *sad face* lol)
haha I can't help but love Elijah. I know his existence is a danger to our favorite characters and I know he has to go and I should be rooting for his going because, at the end of the day, he's a "bad guy" BUT he's just too awesome and badass and I wanted him around as long as possible tossing his coins and rocks and making the random joke and *sniffles*
However, plot wise, I feel like it may have been a trade-off between him and Katherine (I guess having the two of them, plus Jonas and Luka, plus the main characters running around would have been too much?) and if that was indeed the case than I can get over it because Katherine's just too good to pass up lol =P
oooh if you want to post one, all you have to do is copy and paste the html code if you're taking it from a hosting site (like photobucket), or you could just paste it into your post the same way you would a picture =)
ITA, I don't think we've seen the last of him because that "you have to keep the dagger in his chest" bit seems like something that would cause them some trouble later on ;)
DAMON'S FACE MAKES MY DAY EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT. Seriously, his expression when he saw Kat was PRICELESS. That man. I ♥ him xinfinity.
I can't believe we have to endure another hiatus! Seriously. It's awful~!
Tonight's episode was so good though. I concur with you on all your points, and have to wonder--what are they going to do about Klaus? Does Isobel have another handy dagger?
Damon's rage is the key to that whole can of worms--and I loved it. I loved seeing Lexi again, and seeing just how incredible she was to Stefan, who just needed a little guidance. He was a trainwreck, poor guy. His desperation to keep Damon there was just heartbreaking.

that's the one thing that's really giving me some hoope with respect to the idea that Elijah isn't "dead-dead" (along with the fact that the whole thing with the dagger is just far to specific and suseptible to some kind of foul play)
Damon's rage is the key to that whole can of worms
DEFINATELY. and crowandfog and silviakundera made a very insightful interpretation in that perhaps Damon was also resentful of Lexi for being to Stefan what he couldn't be (and--in his view--turning Stefan into the antithesis of Damon) AND for not affording him the same help/friendship she affored Stefan; and that was part of what motivated his killing her *-) makes sense, no?
So I’m guessing that was John’s plan to get Katherine out: have Damon do his dirty work.
Oh, you're right! I can't believe I didn't put it together until now.
And I think I'm maybe the only person who liked Lexi a little less after this episode. She just so immediately latched onto Stefan and didn't seem as interested in helping Damon at all -- minimal effort. And then in S1 she's throwing in his face that he didn't turn into a nice guy? Well, yeah Lexi, but Stefan had you for a mentor. Plus, I bet she never told Stefan that Damon had said to help him. Though of course, still awful that Damon killed Stefan's best friend. I wish the writers would give the brothers a scene where they actually talk about it and Damon does an apology a la 1x22 to Jeremy about Vicky.

Butting in to say, THIS RIGHT HERE! THIS SO HARDCORE! THANK YOU!
It actually kept me from feeling sympathetic to Stefan for losing her, because, before they came back to MF, Damon never even HAD ANYONE TO LOSE. So why should he have felt bad about killing Lexi? In fact, that's probably part of why he did it. She was Stefan's friend, and Damon never had any friends. He even asked her, "why are you so mean to me?" So instead of feeling sorry for Stefan, I just felt even worse for Damon. /end rant. Sorry. *blushes*
I still feel sympathy for Stefan, but I think it does add some potential insight into Damon's motivations in the Lexi episode. Previously I'd conjectured that he subconsciously resented her place in Stefan's life which used to be his and thus the fact that their relationship was purely platonic is what actually made him resent her more. Now I think Damon also resented her because she had been a vampire they'd met who he asked to "help" Stefan (who was clearly scary and out of control), but then what happened was that Stefan turned into someone who didn't even want to be a vampire or live like one at all and rejected Damon's way of life -- which, who knows how much of who Stefan became was actually about Lexi, especially since she still drank human blood... but that's logic, and emotionally I can see Damon blaming her for it. It was only a few episodes before hand when he'd been fighting with Stefan about "remembering who you are
( ... )

It definitely made Damon killing Lexi a lot more complex than it was originally. I just don't feel any more sympathetic for Stefan than I did right after she was killed, if that makes sense. Like this episode did nothing to increase my sympathy for Stefan while it did increase my sympathy for Damon. So I kinda just wonder what the writers were actually trying to do with the flashbacks, cause I'm not sure that I had the response they were hoping for, idk.
You always write the most insightful episode reactions ♥ I agree with pretty everything you've said. I might come back later with some more thoughts but, right now, I'm just going to watch that gif over and over and over again.
"Damon/Katherine snark makes the world go round." Their relationship makes me cringe. I don't even now what to say about them. I just... it's going to keep interesting if Damon continues his hate for her (which he better, damn him).
Haha, they're definately far from my definition of an OTP BUT I think they have some awesome physical/sexual chemistry (I mean, it is Nina and Ian) and I like when they're snarking and trying to "one-up" each other (and I'd love for Damon to one up her more than a few times all things considered lol)
tbh though, I'm of the unpopular opinion that neither Salvatore brother will truly ever "forget" Katherine; like I think they see her for who/what she is now and that their feelings for her have changed drastically (and they're not weakened by her very prescence anymore),but I think there will always be that "something" towards her inside of them--don't know if I'm being very clear, but hopefuly you know what I mean?? lol =(
that said, ITA, I don't want Damon softening up to her ever again (perhaps we the audience could see vestiges of what he feels, but NOT HER), he already put his heart on a platter for her one too many times *sad face*

I think you're right about how having Elijah, Katherine, and, and, and would have been overbearing. But I certainly don't think he's gone for good.
Katherine's ability to muck things up is unparalleled, so it is good to see her again. Gotta love this show. :)
