Just talked to Mum, there is extensive damage to her land, cracks in the foundation of the house, the front door doesn’t open, they have phone but no power or water or sewage. Liquefaction and “sand volcanoes” all over the place. Both cats have taken off. Woody didn’t come back for 3 days after the September quake. Bookie hid under the bed for that ( Read more... )

I would like to donate a bit to help out relief efforts, but I don't know which are considered the most aboveboard and honest there -- any advice, or links to charities or relief organizations that are trustworthy?

Very glad to read your continuing saga with family and quake damages, glad your Mama is okay and DH as well. Wish I could dematerialise myself here and reassemble wherever Estoile and JB are, but haven't managed to locate that Magic Wand yet. (I hate it when I lose important things!)

Thank you for the updates. I'm glad your people are safe, even as the property damage is extensive. I hope, with the disruption of water and sewage, that the emergency measures at hand are up to the potential fallout.
