Thank you. Originally, I had Jack lamenting on the fact that nothing ever changes, but I realised that he's seen so much of it in his time that he can't do anything but detach himself and get on with his job. If he stopped to care every time he'd go mad. Plus, I think the detachment just shows how much he has actually seen, and emphasises the main point that humanity never seems to change for him.
