Yeah, I think that "ddddrrrriiiipppp"-y feeling has a lot to do with hating periods. As someone who has never fully conquered residual slobber (that's OK, a liner or two a day is a small price to pay for all of the other benefits of cups), I can attest from personal experience that the more I slobber, the CRANKIER I am.

I use cloth pads in conjunction with my cup, and I am so happy I switched. No plasticky pad sticking to my skin and chafing my thigh crease! No weird crinkly noises! They were definitely worth it.

I hate pads. I made my own out of flannel prior to discovering cups. They were definitely better than the disposables, but it was still a disgusting feeling. I still occasionally use the flannel liners I made back then. Mostly, I just wear dark underwear when I'm cupping.

I wear dark undies too. Usually black. Towards the end blue or red or purple is ok too.

I agree, well said! I'm so happy! 2.5 years using cups now. I wish I'd started a long time ago! (Late 20's here).

Guys, you have no idea how bad it could be. I grew up on the other side of the Iron curtain, and we did not have manufactured pads or tampons. You know what we did? We bought giant rolled wads of cotton wool and made our own pads. If you felt crafty, you would wrap the cotton in gauze so it didn't stick to all the cracks of your body or fall out of your clothes on the floor. And that did happen, because you can't really secure cotton wads to your underwear. They always slid out of place, you'd wake up in a pool of blood, and you could never wear pants on period day because the diaper was pretty obvious.

My world was transformed when I discovered tampons. Those carried me for more than a decade (I am 38 now), but I always resented the cost, the garbage they generated, and having to carry spare "bullets" with me everywhere.

The cup transformed my world yet again. I want to tell every young woman I know about it, and the only thing stopping me is that it's creepy and they'll probably think I am insane.

I'm so glad you shared. My mother wouldn't let me use tampons as long as I lived at home. So, while manufactured pads aren't as bad as the "diaper" you describe, my life changed when I was able to use tampons. I can barely refrain from crusading about cups. I've given my best friend and my sister cups as presents. Once in a while I post a cup giveaway or something on FaceBook. I think some people have unfriended me! *eek*

I've recommended a cup to a friend or two, but only in person, and only if the menstruation conversation came up on its own.

Well, the other time I proselytized for cups is when I discovered that they prevent stress urinary incontinence during heavy lifting. That was a PSA worth sharing with the world. So many female powerlifters leave little puddles on the floor during competitions... And just putting the cup in can prevent that.
