This was, by far the most absurd thing that had ever happened to him, and considering the fact that Ethan Rayne was no stranger to the absurd, that was very much saying something. What on Earth had compelled him to pick up this stupid paper novelty in the first place much less actually stick his finger inside it? And while he was at it why in the world would this strange man have come along and inserted his on the other end, without so much as a 'how do you do'. He looked down at the fingers in their unrelenting paper prison and then up to the other finger's own.

"Well, this is awkward."

Freddie groans in frustration, looking between his finger and the person attached. These sorts of contraptions aren't difficult, but he's never been daft enough to attempt putting his finger in one, with good reason. Tugging at his hand to see about slipping out, it's a no go.

"I likely should've bought you lunch first, eh?" he jokes, although his expression says he really doesn't feel like a joker. "How the Hell does this thing even work?"

Ethan chose to ignore the banal attempt at humor and instead focused on the problem at hand.

"I've not the foggiest idea," he also gave a tug at the trap, but it only seemed to make it's hold more firm. "Perhaps there is a shop keeper or someone like that who can help us?"

It's been too long since he last fed. She knows that. It was a stupid risk going out alone when she still hasn't learnt to control herself, but she thought she'd be okay.

Now Elena's staring at the unfortunate woman who's walked into the alley she's been hiding in to try and get away from the painfully loud sound of hearts beating, and she's not sure she's going to be able to stop herself. She steps out from the shadows, hands balling into fists as she tries to suppress the urge to just tear the strangers throat out.

"This probably isn't the best way to go," she says quickly, trying not to stare at her neck. Her voice is strained and comes out as more of a hoarse croak than anything, "You should try a different route."

Emily's just gotten off her shift at the hospital and starts to walk home. She's heard the stories about Mystic Falls, about the wild animal attacks, and has been warned to be careful at night. To her it sounds like nothing more than a silly urban legend, made up by local high school kids, trying to scare each other.

When she turns down the alley, she jumps a little when she hears the girl's voice. There's something wrong with her, and Emily can't help but be concerned.

"I always walk this way. Are you all right? You don't look well," she says.

God, she's starving. It takes her a moment to process that the woman has responded, and she shakes her head to clear her kind a little, trying to focus. You don't want to do this. You'll hurt her. You could kill her. She has to keep reminding herself of this, she any afford to lose it so close to home.

Still, she's barely aware as she takes a step closer and her whole mouth is aching. She's sure the signs are showing on her face by now and she quickly looks away.

"I'm fine, it's just...it's not safe around here. You need to go," her voice is growing more urgent, she's panicking now and she all but shouts her next words, "Get out of here, seriously!"

Although she's not unused to strange and extreme swings in weather, she's not exactly expecting a foot and a half of snow to just drop down on London while she's investigating a school with too-good test scores (again!).

Thus, once she gets a glance outside the window she does a double-take, and wanders up to squint out at the snow. "...That was...quick?"

Ethan pressed his back against the remains of the wall he was currently hiding behind, as the sounds of fighting, gun fire and explosions sounded in the not distant enough background. This entire situation, this... war he guessed it was, was absolutely insane in Ethan's opinion. In fact, he had yet to work out what it was even all about or what had sparked it in the first place. Which of course meant that nobody would accept him as being 'on their side'.

Ethan stiffened when he heard the noise of movement coming from the other side of the wall, near the gaping hole where it had begun to collapse. He had no weapons and no magical components with which to defend himself, so all he could do was wait breathlessly and hope that whatever it was either wasn't dangerous or simply past him by.

All Ethan could think at that moment, when he realized that he was standing stark raving nude in the middle of the little down-home American bar and grill, was that this would certainly make him think twice about dating sassy, jealous witches.

She's not normally a drinker, but considering the alcohol helps her deal with the cravings a bit better she's been frequenting this bar a lot lately. With the bartender compelled into not asking her for ID, she's ready for a quiet night of nursing drinks when she happens to glance to her left. Quickly looking back forward with a shocked look on her face, she clears her throat and asks quickly.

"Would you, uh, like my jacket?" She's not sure how exactly this guy managed to remove his clothes quite so fast, but he appears to be just as surprised as she is, and she can't help but offer her assistance.

It's been a long time since Caroline's actually fought with Elena. They had gotten past their petty differences, and had become friends over the past year. However, things were different now.

"I'm not sure why you think everything Stefan says is right, Elena! All he's doing is coddling you, and it's going to end up getting you hurt!"
