Emily sat on the cold pavement as she watched her mugger run off with her bag. There wasn't much in it - her wallet, a small amount of cash, and food, but still. It was her bag. Of course she'd tried to fight the man off, which resulted in her being shoved to the ground.

After a moment, she stood and swore loudly when she realized her ankle had been twisted in the fight.

Ethan had seen the man run off with the young woman's handbag and though it wasn't behavior typically expected of him, Ethan decided to see if he could offer her assistance of any kind. As he neared her he discovered that it was probably a good thing he'd decided to try out the role of good Samaritan today, because she appeared to actually be injured.

"Here, let me help you." He gave a sympathetic smile as he took her arm in his hands to steady her.

Emily flinched a little when the other man approached her, not sure if it was someone else to mug her. She was going to start driving to work from now on. Dealing with the motorways was safer than this.

"Thank you," she said as she tried not to put weight on her right ankle. "It's not broken, but I'm rather sure I sprained it."

Beth was just minding her own business, really. She didn't know the man who was occupying the seat next to her on this bench, but she really hadn't meant to bother him. She was just reading her book, and she wanted some peace and quiet to read her book. She hadn't been looking to converse. So, when she heard the man next to her start to speak, it wasn't all that strange that she might be confused.

"I'm sorry, did you say somethin'?" she asked, turning to him. She didn't want to be rude, after all. Even if she didn't understand why he was talking to her in the first place.

Beth chewed her lip lightly as she approached Caroline. She was nervous, even though she thought it was silly. It wasn't like she'd never spoken to the girl before, quite the contrary. But Beth felt like she was exposing a little bit of her heart right now, and that would always be scary.

"Hey, you busy?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

Caroline had offered to take the clothes down to the river and wash them since the walkers didn't really pay a lot of attention to her. After scrubbing the latest round of blood out of them, she brought them back to the prison yard, and started to hang them on the line Carol had put there.

When Beth came over, she looked at her. "No, not really. Just have a few more shirts to hang," she said before raising an eyebrow. "What's up?"

Beth gave a small shrug and moved to help Caroline with the last of the shirts. She'd learned that giving herself something to do with her hands was always helpful, these days.

She chewed her lip a moment before looking up at the other girl. "I just... I wanted to say that I'm real glad you're here, Caroline. Not sure how I'd feel about being the only girl my age around. I mean, I got Maggie, but it ain't always the same."
