Momming.

I've been up since 6:30. Before 8am, I had made chicken salad, a chicken salad salad, a fruit smoothie, a pot of coffee, waffles and a kid's lunch. I have ingested exactly one cup of coffee. This is why I'm losing weight, you guys. It's the "exhaust yourself and forget to eat" diet. EYAFTED.

You could sell that shit.

I'm going to go eat a Clif bar ( Read more... )

WOW. That's a lot to do in an hour and a half!!

lol, that's an amusing notion. xD
"Because my life is bizarre sometimes, but it could be so much more so and I like to entertain those sorts of notions."

Thank god every morning is not like that. The only reason yesterday's was like this is because Chris decided to get up and run. So some of the things that I normally don't do, I had to do so he could shower and dress and still be on time for work.

That's one of the many ways I keep my sanity. Because momming is pretty insane, even by conventional standards. It's easy to get caught up in the futility of it all. Frustrated by the repetition and the lack of appreciation of all the little things you put into it. It's much better to sit back and laugh at the absurdity on occasion. :)

Heh, I'm sure you can relate. ;) And you work on top of momming, so you've got an extra dose of crazy!

Momming would certainly be a lot more entertaining in a corset. But can you imagine what the PTA would think?

Stay-at-home Moms have a full-time job, that's for sure. I miss it some days, other days I'm SO glad the Munchkin is relatively self-sufficient. My hat's off to you for doing it! So many people think it's a cop-out, but I disagree. It's VERY hard work.

Yes, exactly. ;)

Indeed, I work harder now than I ever did when I worked for pay, even counting the period just following the laying off of my entire department leaving the work of 12 people to fall on me. Plus, I don't get vacation or sick days. Jonah is thankfully much more independent than most kids his age, but he still relies on me for a lot. And since I'm home, so many more things fall on me to do for the household in general because I'm "available". But I know you know all this already. You've been there.

I'm always reminded of that argument between Homer and Marge:
Homer: While you lounge around here doing laundry and putting up drywall, I'm at work busting my hump!
Marge: Oh please, from what I hear you waltz in there at 10:30, take a nap on the toilet, then sit around Googling your own name until lunch.
Homer: Who told you that!?
Marge: You shouted it while we were making love!
