Well first off, something about the Spanish version's voice acting (as in Castilian Spanish) sounds incredibly bland. Megamind especially, since he's the protagonist, he's just not lively or charming enough. :| Overall, everyone just sounds samey as hell, Hal is especially bad.

In terms of translation, it seems to be fine. I kind of like the way his pronunciation is played out with the only scene I was shown, in which he says either "olé" (a term generally used in bullfighting, though it's often a way to cheer excitedly, from my experience when I was living in Spain) or "ole" (used in flamenco, not sure what the meaning is) instead of "hola." (hello) Though I guess in terms of WHY he says it that way is not as funny as it is english, but it is kind of funny imagining him as cheering to Roxanne and Hal when he says the word.

I was only shown one trailer on this site, though, so I can't see any more scenes for which to judge. :(

Ooh, that does sound like a pretty creative translation, given what they had to work with.

I'm sure pretty much everything that comes out of Space Dad's mouth will be lost in the international versions given that he's meant to be a parody of two roles by the same actor kind of mushed together.

what an interesting topic!
well..i'm from Chile , wich is a spanish speaker country and to be totally frank , i prefer english version better... one of the main reason , it´s because of the cast...will ferrell fits megamind so perfectly! (Although latin-spanish dub actors did a quite good job with all the characters , nothing to say ) and some jokes just can't be translated (in spanih at least) without lots and lots of misunderstandings. (and that so sad since the jokes are sooo soooooo "lmfao!")
that was specially bad for me cuz ones of my favorite quotes from the movie such as "tomato potato tomato potato" , roxxane's infamous "go all gangsta on him" and others i can't recall rigth now , were translated to fit our own quirks , and that wasn't nice for me..at ALL :I . though , metroman and megamind's little argument with all the "jutice it's an idea , a belief" and "microwave of evil" was totally epic , in both , english and spanish lol.

please , excuse my english D:

I watched the german version when someone here linked to the youtube (to find the best brainbot noises for ringtone sampling). The voice for Megamind in .de was boring :(

I liked his German voice ;_; I thought it was actually good for a change, normally the original is always a LOT better, but this time I was actually fine with it :)

This is something I'm always interested in. When I've watched my favorite DVDs to death, I like watching them with French and Spanish subtitles just out of curiosity. It's fun to see what gets kept and what gets changed. I don't speak much Spanish or any French, but they're close enough to English that I can tell what's being said when they're side by side. Often they change a joke and then make a reference to it later at an unrelated moment. Sometimes there's a mistake in the English and it gets repeated in other languages. It's fascinating if you're bored and lonely like me :D
