Books, Films, Telly - All the Important Stuff

I've been really bad at posting lately. I have been watching stuff though...

1. My flatmate's bf has just started on book two of A Storm of Swords and my flatmate has been hovering over him ever since just waiting for him to get to that chapter, which is hilarious given that when my flatmate started on that book I was hovering over her waiting for ( Read more... )

3) I'm interested, plotwise, and because I love some of the characters/actors, but what I hope is that the characters will not be flat line-deliverers. I saw glimmers of hope, in some characters more than others, and since it's the pilot, I'm giving it time, but that's the worry. I'm very, very picky about characterization through dialogue. Other thing I'm worried about is, not necessarily the queen, but my interest lies in the mayor as mother to Henry -- I really hope they don't go down the questionable root of implying adoption doesn't count and she could never fulfill the role of a birthmother, however much she might want him more/be better for him.

5) I super ship Rational!Verse Abed/Britta. I've been vaguely curious about them as a pair anyway, since they're both my favorites in general, so holy shit yay finally, the show caters directly to me. And I can't imagine a better way. XD

Same here. I know evil stepmothers and kids being raised by someone not their parents is big in fairytales, but I really hope the show is going for a massive subversion of those two tropes, particularly given the modern setting. (One of the few things Heroes did really well back in the day was exactly that, blowing the evil adoptive parents trope out of the water. I really wouldn't mind a repeat of that storyline ( ... )

3) I've just been operating on the idea of the real world personalities of the people being connected, obviously, but different people. That's probably not what they're going for, but I like thinking of them as different characters while also recognizing their history.

5) Oh, they definitely won't. But I like their dynamic. I think I will always hold a special place in my heart for it due to Abed, in-D&D-character, expressing appreciation for Britta's concern for his race's well-being after everybody else complained she was taking it too seriously. It was lovely of him to do, and the best thing is that, since it's Abed, he did it with objectivity. =D

3) Well, with the new episode my split personality theory has been disproved. Although, at least we got a bit more of the mechanics, and Rumplestiltskin at least appears to be aware of everything and the same character.

5) That's such a cute scene, and my favourite from that episode (and one of my favourites from the entire series actually). You know, I've decided I want an episode where Britta tries to psychoanalyse Abed, only to have Abed to decide that of the two of them, she's the one who needs more help, so turns it on her. After all, with the Britta-Bot song, he's got her pegged.

I'm going to see In Time tomorrow (preview screening as it isn't out here yet), but I'm glad you liked it. I couldn't tell from the trailer whether it was a bad movie pretending to be good or it was actually good because the trailer had me really intriguing. I'm glad it is the latter!

Yeah, I can't say I was won over by the trailer, if anything the trailer made me question whether I wanted to see it or not. I'm glad I did though, it's not brilliant, but it's certainly good. I hope you enjoy it!

Meddow! In honor of Halloween (it's still Halloween here for a few more hours at least) I posted a link on Tumblr to your "Spinners of the Dead" TTOI fic. I then realized "derp I should have asked first".

I'm sorry. Can I ask for forgiveness and retroactive permission. If it's a problem I will take it down.

Also, long time, no see! Glad to hear things are going well. :D
