I am living by your example. I'm getting all my crashing out of the way while I'm still young enough to do it.

Generally speaking, time trials are a lot safer than mass start races. Yesterday was just not meant to be my day. A bit earlier, I would have gone through that spot when it was dry. A bit later, and the rain would have washed the algae and mud off the pavement. Someone would have crashed there anyway. Fortunately, I could take it.

I could stand up, but there may have been about 30 seconds of "conduct detrimental to bicycle racing" before I started laughing.
