I know it's on (ick) campus, but have you ever thought of using the UT gyms? We've got super awesome pools. Plus also weight machines, saunas, hot tubs, freeweights, a climbing wall... yada yada.

It's about $67 a month not sure how that compares (it seems way high to me, but I've never been to a gym before that had so much stuff)

Physical access to the gym would be less than pleasant though, no?

I have thought about that, and about the swim classes that appear to be open to the community (http://www.utrecsports.org/instructional/aquaticclasses/aquaticschedule.php), but I think the whole parking-on-campus thing might do me in.

When you first took a swimm class there, did you take Adult Beginner or Intermediate?

I took the beginner, but that's really for people who can't float yet :D

Intermediate was the right speed for me at the time, although if you want more focused work on your form and a harder workout, you should do coached swim. You'll improve dramatically in that class.

You could always park in a neighborhood nearby and take one of the free UT shuttles to the gym :D
