With All Due Respect...

Ok, so here's the thing: I, for seven whole years, have loved House, the show. I've loved it because of House, the main character, of course, but I also loved it because of the dynamic he had with other characters. And I mean ALL of them! Like the lenient mother of a turbulent child, I was ready to excuse all his flaws. I understood his reckless ( Read more... )

Couldn't agree more and I am still so disgusted and cannot stand to hear any excitement about the show. A waste of great potential I hope the writers are embarrassed. They should be.

I don't share the excitement, but I do my best to stand it... By principle, if I want people to let me express my opinion freely, I should be able to reciprocate! ;)

well i'm one of the people who wont have the strenght to endure the new season. they destroyed so much with season 7 that i think its pointless to watch.

i mean cuddy aside, house is where he was in season one. there was absolutely no character growth then and since the writers dont want that anyway and want to keep him miseralbe and alone, i'll move on.

besides without cuddy ... idk... there is no hope left.

:/

I have not given up, but I have no issue with fans who won't be watching next season, or for that matter, with people who stopped watching during this past season. I completely understand where they are coming from, and may well, if the season 8 storylines disappoint me even further than season 7's already have, become one of those fans who just says "enough, already" and relegates it to a Show I Used to Watch. As long as no one minds my optimism (I can't say I have much enthusiasm, but I do hold out hope that they can redeem themselves), I can't fault anyone else for their disappointment.

redemption? that's an alien concept I am now practically 100% sure they have NO idea what it is ( ... )

Cuddy's departure put a serious strain on my viewer's faith, I won't deny. and, like you, I think the "going back to square one" was a very bad creative choice.

yet, I'm gonna probably watch. I think... don't know what it is exactly I'll look for, even less what I'll get, but I think I owe it to myself.

the difference is, I'm going to be definitely less obsessed by the possible impacts and meanings of the storylines.

oh yes, that's for sure!

I hope you have been satisfied because I loved reading you. As always your words are true no matter who weighs. Like you I will see the series, but not the same, something is lost. Lisa Cuddy precindible was not a character, was not created to deactivate it, quite the opposite, and therefore not the "Huddy" itself, is what the series if it compromised on the bottom. Despite the end of this session, it was created for a real evolution in the relationship of these two characters, not to disappear.
There will be a House of 1 to 7, and after that, and we will always feel as truly would have been conceived history.

To me, there's also a House season 0, who's only evoked from time to time, but still has consequences on the House we first discover in the pilot: it's the House pre-infarction. then there's lots of different Houses from season 1 to season 5. Then there's House season 6, then House first half of season 7 and then House season 7 second half, who's a bad parody of himself in his worst day, for no special reason... at least never totally rational or true to its character's legacy.

so House season 8, imo, is going to be an attempt at reviving the magical times where House was a total jerk, but a loveable one. Except, since they've already strayed into too much inconsistencies and dead-ends storylines at this point, I'm not expecting it to be any less than laborious, even though probably full of good-intentions...
