Somehow I've managed to sew garments for 18 years without ever making a bound buttonhole.

Until today.

I'm encouraged by my test buttonhole. Vogue Sewing has like five different methods for making them; the one I picked involves a lot of basting and careful measuring, but seems reasonably foolproof. So tomorrow I will figure out the button ( Read more... )

As I feared, adding the princess seam to the jacket has made it a wrinkly disaster, but there's not much I can do about it now. I'm sure there's some trick to pressing it so every little eased spot won't show, but after 18 years of sewing, hell if I know what that is. I think jackets are my least favorite things in the world to make.
