You need to pack to move to make YOURSELF more sane. The more you get done now, the less you have to do later. I think you're wise by getting as much done now as you can, honestly.
One thing that I found, and HIGHLY recommend - Uhaul makes colored packing tape that's labelled with rooms on it. Makes it SO MUCH EASIER to move things in and know where it's going without having to be anal with labelling things on your moving boxes.
Worth EVERY penny. Seriously cut down the box transportation in half because I didn't have to direct where boxes needed to go. Just stick up a piece of paper in the doorway with some of the tape on it.
I might try to do something like that with coloured stickers...
Since most everything currently resides in my bedroom, and I've not been separating things according to their future room, the difference is mainly according to material. Fabric versus paper, versus books, versus electronics, etc.
I think I'm just used to thinking on a more consolidated scale.
