Mum: Well, don't pack everything. Leave your clothes on their hangers, and we'll move them for you.

me: Okaaaaay, but not everything that's left is clothing on hangers.

Mum: Well, we're still going to help you. Don't go overboard.

me: Ehhh ...

My parents are telling me not to pack everything now, and that they'll help me move some of the clothing and smaller stuff on the Friday afternoon after closing--but I just know I'll get irritated if they try to help me pack.

Moving good, packing bad.

I know this from experience. The experience of moving from Pennsylvania to Greenville, North Carolina. The experiences of moving back and forth between Boston and Greenville, Boston and Durham.

If and when I've allowed things to remain unpacked before their arrival, everyone's nerves get blown to hell in the process of completing the packing. I'd rather not begin life in my new home with that particular tradition--not if I can help it.
