You're not that weird, unless I'm weird too. I tend to leave any spiders in our house alone though I try to get other insects out. I figure most of them come in when we are letting the dog in or out, so they would rather be outside.
I let other insects outside, too, because there really is nothing for them to eat inside, unless they are ants and I have not had those for quite awhile.
We tend to get ants in our kitchen because certain members of the household don't clean up their crumbs. I've discovered though that the ants go away if I just make sure to wipe down the counters and the table a few times a day. Then I don't have to kill any of them.
We have big house spiders web-nest in the kitchen and my mom has one in her kitchen too. She even made a sign in Latin and put it on the wall near the web. Plus I'm always making a point of being careful around spider webs in the house. It's such a big work to build a web, it'd be very cruel of me to destroy it unless I absolutely have to.
You are a very enlightened person, imho! Spiders generally get so much grief from humans, I am sure they appreciate those like you who have a "live and let live" attitude! :)
I have an excellent spider that is sort of daddy long legs-ish living in my kitchen. One week her web is below the window, the next it's over a few feet between the stove and cupboard. We have so many fruit flies this time of year, I think she's going to get very fat.
Ah well, I'm sure you will capture her gently and place her carefully somewhere she will probably have more chance of a meal, anyway.
I'm a fan of spiders for the good they do, as well as their intrinsic beauty, but I confess I prefer them in the garden rather than the house. Aside from anything else, given half a chance the cats would probably eat them. ;p

However, spiders can come in handy! ;)

But of course it is better if people clean up after themselves so the ants don't have to do the work! ;)
