[Winry will arrive at the smithy around eight in the morning. Shocking, right? She had been training herself to get up earlier so she could walk Elicia to school. As she enters the smithy she can be seen polishing something in her hands. The cloth she's using obscures the object, but the leather string can easily be seen as it dangles.]

[Sokka doesn't really pay much attention to what it is she has in her hands. He's actually in late today, after her, seeing as how he's still settling back in. Once inside, he sets some of his stuff in his usual space. Lunch, sword, boomerang, man-purse. The essentials.

Naturally he brightens after seeing her.]

Hey Winry! Miss me?

Sokka! [Her face lights up and she opens her arms wide (anticipating a hug).] Come here!

[Oh heck, he's not above a hug. Here, have a happy squeeze.]

I'll take that as a yes.

[So sometime after bumping into Temari at the bakery, but before her conversation with Trafalgar Law, Katara makes her way over to her brother's Smithy.]

Knock, knock!

[She's got an umbrella and a bag full of goodies, and she bends all the excess water out the door before shutting it behind her. Is anyone home?]

[Sokka is indeed inside, currently working on what looks like the cross between a sword and chain all wrapped in one. It's a prototype he made for Nash and one he decided to dig out for old time's sake, except it doesn't seem to function like it should anymore. So he's got it stretched out entirely as he tries to work out the problem.]

[Coming right up to your workbench, bro.]

Hey, Sokka.

[And she tucks the bag over by her hip.]

[He blinks and glances at her. He doesn't quite get up, but he does give her a nod of greeting.]

Hey. What's up? [Calls at work aren't common. But not so rare as to be a cause for alarm.]

[Video, backdated March 22nd] I forget to do things sometimes.

[A shy voice peeps from the journal. The speaker half-obscuring herself from view. Forgive her, she doesn't really know how the comm works yet.]

U-um... is this Sokka-chin?

[She shifts a little. This isn't like her to seek out a human, but Ami seemed to talk about him with confidence, so she would trust him. Or, at least try.]

Well...that's good. I think. You're friends with Ami-chin, right? She said you might be able to help me.

Ami? Yeah, I know her. What do you need? A new sword? A cool spear? I'm actually getting really good with throwing darts too. You'd think they sound easy to make, but getting them perfectly balanced and aligned is actually pretty tricky.

This sounds like an entertaining story to her! She may sound a bit too gleeful about the possibility that Dad got in trouble.]

[He laughs.] Well I don't know, Toph. I did end up stuck with you two.

[As for Fenimore's question? Oh jeez.]

That part is uh, not so important. [Your mom kind of kicked your dad's ass.]

[Fenimore pipes up in a subconscious immitation of Toph:] Hey!

[She doesn't manage to sound offended, though -- more like she found it funny. It might even have distracted her from the topic of Sokka getting his rear put into gear, but Toph's insistance reminds her, so she crosses her arms and agrees:]

Yeah!

[So the day after Sokka and Suki have their Big Canoe Trip is a day like any other for Katara. She's got a pretty good idea about the purpose for this canoe trip, and prepared a special celebratory dinner for them when they returned.

And everyone was very happy. And in the evening, when it was time for her to practice, she left to do so. There's comfort and joy in the familiarity of the movements, and the night is calm.]

[Well when he broke the news to everyone, it was to everyone. Katara, Toph, and Zuko. So even though he has a full belly and probably wouldn't mind spending some time with Suki, especially given last night, he ends up following Katara out, about ten minutes after. At first he just silently watches her go through the forms, a part of his mind able to recognize them as being more than just vague 'water bendy moves', thanks to his other life as a master waterbender. That does, after all, give one a bit more appreciation for how these things work. Even if he's not the type to ever admit that.

He'll watch for a bit more before speaking up.]

So... Thanks for dinner. It was great. [It was a lot better than the canned stuff they had last night. New Feather station rations and all that.]

[Oh, it's Sokka. Why is he--

--did he just thank her? This must be serious. She pauses in her practicing.]

I'm glad you liked it. What's up?

[Man, she's not catching on, is she? This is her chance to talk about it. In private. He assumed this would be the sort of thing she wanted to do.]

Uh, nothing. Just... you know, wanted to let you know. Suki liked it too.
