[So sometime after bumping into Temari at the bakery, but before her conversation with Trafalgar Law, Katara makes her way over to her brother's Smithy.]

Knock, knock!

[She's got an umbrella and a bag full of goodies, and she bends all the excess water out the door before shutting it behind her. Is anyone home?]

[Sokka is indeed inside, currently working on what looks like the cross between a sword and chain all wrapped in one. It's a prototype he made for Nash and one he decided to dig out for old time's sake, except it doesn't seem to function like it should anymore. So he's got it stretched out entirely as he tries to work out the problem.]

Hey, Sokka.

[And she tucks the bag over by her hip.]

[He blinks and glances at her. He doesn't quite get up, but he does give her a nod of greeting.]

Hey. What's up? [Calls at work aren't common. But not so rare as to be a cause for alarm.]

Not much. So listen... [She digs around in the bakery bag.] ...how are you at flash bombs?

[He is starting to smell that smell of confectionery treats.]

... flash bomb? I've been getting good lately, why?

I want you to make me some, but you have to keep it a secret. And they can't be too big, I need to be able to hide them on my belt or behind my waterskin. And I have to be able to trigger them with one hand. Do you think you can do that?

[Still digging... and ah-ha! She takes out a blueberry muffin.]

[Why does she need... ooh muffin. He reaches for it.]

Probably... why do you need them?

Oh - it's for a spar.

[Stupid enamel-based paint.]

No rush or anything, but how long do you think it'll take?

[And she hands him over the muffin.]

[Mmmmm. Muffin. He holds it in front of him and lets the scent fill his nostrils. Oh, that's good muffin. He could just run away with you to the muffin land where he'd be crowned the muffin king and-]

Spar? How long? [Blink.] I have some other stuff to do first... a few days, I guess. But you could hurt someone with one of those, you know.

It doesn't need to be blinding. I just need a quick source of a flash of light.

[Crinkling up the bakery bag now. Wonder what else is in there?]

[He already has the muffin halfway in his mouth when he spots more. He really, really shouldn't. Katara would be upset it he ruined his appetite for dinner with muffins.

... but Katara is the one offering him the muffins.]

Uh. If you say so.

[Wait... she's leaving? But he only got one muffin! In exchange for hours of work!]

[After all she does for you, you're seriously going to quibble about this? Unsuspecting to his dilemma, however, Katara turns.]

Yeah?

[Hey, hey, hey. He does lots of things too! At least, a lot more than he used to. He stands up, eying that bag she had.]

Those flash bombs are going to take hours to make! I think that warrants more than one muffin as payment.
