I appreciate the sentiment, although I'm not sure it applies to me since I originally planned to make my dolphins the right colors :)

There is no picture of your green dolphins! :(

At least your stained glass is closer to real than what I used to make, using heavy-duty clear vinyl (think very thick plastic wrap), semi-transparent fabric paint, and gun-metal gray (also fabric paint). I'd make the design on the vinyl, wet the back of it, and then stick it on a window :)

PS
If you'd like to learn to draw, I highly recommend "Drawing With Children" by Mona Brooks. Starts with the basics and emphasizes process over perfection.

Yeah, I guess this is somewhat of an improvement. I'm going to try to get the picture up in a bit.

I've taken a few art classes, so I do know how to draw - and if you put something in front of me to draw I can draw it. The problem is that I have absolutely no talent and no visual imagination :) And I can't plan a picture. Which is not really something that can be cured by a book :)

I do draw quite a bit for fun, though.

It was something to do, at least.

Lol! This sounded like fun... Reminded me of one time I was asked to teach an art class because I had made the mistake of listing art as one of my interests on my CV--I like art, but as you put it, I'm... not very good. I just felt terrible afterwards because I basically gave a stack of pastels to my students and asked them to go out and draw stuff and have fun, since I had no idea where to start ;)

I would have done the same :)

I like drawing and sketching things, and I always liked art classes. I just have no talent :)

Yay for pink dolphins...and green.

There was a pink atlanic bottle nose swimming around the gulf. They said he was a kind of Albino.

And the fake glass art has it's merit...think of old windows that you would be afraid to hang a leaded glass piece from.

Oh, yeah. Plus, I'm not kidding about the building codes. If you are trying to put up actual stained glass in Florida you are going to run into a number of issues, and you will have to have tempered glass anyway, not to mention special soldering, even assuming you can put it in at all (not in South Florida). So it definitely has its place, and there are techniques to make it look older and/or more realistic - as at Hogwarts at Universal.

I may put up a fake glass art in the missing window. I'm thinking about it - I need to research the materials costs first and then try to work up some enthusiasm.

Oh, and yeah - the pink dolphins in China aren't really "pink"; its just that their skin is white and translucent, so the blood vessels beneath the skin make the dolphins look pink. The same was true for that particular bottlenose dolphin.

Google has some images.
