Wow, you had me at the first line. I saw my first glassblowers (only so far) in Venice as well (actually, in Murano, but close enough). It was in the early eighties, and I was a young child - and I'll never, ever forget it.

My glassblowers were in Murano too, but I simplified things here :)

Someday I'll go back and buy lots of glass horses.

Murano stuff is always cool. My parents have a lamp they bought there, which I belive is possibly the most valuable thing in their entire house!

If I hadn't broken my green glass horse - just one foot is off, but the result is a three and a half legged horse - it might actually be worth something now, I guess, although it's also pretty small and not one of the major Murano pieces.

I still like it because it's a lovely shade of green and, as said, it reminds me of magic and breaking things.

I've seen some really lovely stuff done with printmaking. Papaveria Press makes, among other things, these lovely limited editions of handmade books - you might want to look at some of the things they are doing.

Oh, how I loved the glass horses. (I saw them in Venice, myself, the summer I turned fourteen, though I was thirteen at the time.)

Someday I want to own a lot of them - head back to Venice and get a red one and a blue one and another green one at least.

(I have big and occasionally very expensive dreams :) ).

Sounds about like one of my dreams. The glass horses, and the wonderful ice cream, far better than any I've had in the States or Canada. Then there's the "visit Ireland and Scotland and Wales" dream, and a whole host of others.

Funny, with the way light works underwater, I have absolutely no problem with the idea of a green dolphin. And that's before you take artistic license.

Yeah - in the Ten Thousand Islands part of the Everglades, dolphins sometimes look green depending upon the light. And I've been told that the color of the pink dolphins in the Amazon River also varies depending upon the light.
