Cool that the cashier actually acknowledged that it was a new big kid thing for Isaac, too.

awesome! way to go, Isaac. And, way to go Joan :-) My parents did similar things with us, and I completely appreciated the independence. It still boggles my mind that I have friends who are unsure with traveling. By the time I was 6, my parents were having me lead us to the gate. My parents firmly believed in having us take over tasks as soon as we possibly could. Love it!

I think that's really awesome. When I was growing up, my mom didn't empower me to do much of anything "free range". Quite the opposite in fact - - she was over protective. So the unintended consequence of this was that when I left home, I didn't know how to do much on my own which led to a whole host of problems :-/ Good for you! And for Isaac and Ruthie too!
