I can't afford to pay my cable bill anymore, so I'm canceling my cable. Of course, Charter doesn't know this yet. I'm going to buy a digital converter box and antenna and unhook the charter and install them manually (I already put in an order to have DSL Elite added to my AT&T Monthly bill...it's $10 less than internet with Charter and I won't ( Read more... )

If you can't find it on Hulu, there's always Bittorrent if you wait a day or two. Download it, watch it, delete it.

I know I can download things, watch them, and delete them. It takes time to download episodes and I'll have to hunt around to find the shows I want to watch and then take the time to download them and then delete them. The point of this post was to complain and vent and get it off my chest that even if people find it silly, I'm sad to lose cable because I won't be able to get home and watch a marathon of Cold Case on Tuesday or Criminal Minds on Wednesday or something. I wasn't asking people to tell me how to use the internet, I was just venting about why I'm sad. I don't mean for this to come out snippy, but if it does, I'm sorry, I'm simply illustrating why it's silly to jump to give advice as your first response before you do anything else, especially if the person hasn't asked for advice and has in fact asked you specifically not to give her advice many times. Ten times out of ten, you tell me to do something I already know how to do and am in fact already doing, and it just gets trying to have to respond every time and ask ( ... )

Second the Hulu thing. There are also other sites out there are streaming shows. Not necessarily legal, but still. That's how I caught up on the last season of Dexter.

I like Hulu, but it only has certain episodes of the shows I like, I won't just be able to get home and watch them in a long marathon like I do now with TNT and USA and Food Network (Food Network in particular has a lot of show it's hard to find on places like Hulu).

True. On the bright side, at least you have quite a few movies to watch. And I'm sure to be sending you another package full of them in the near future. :)

Yay! The good thing is I'll be forced to watch my HUGE pile of unwatched movies I've been avoiding since I have cable to watch. :-p

My options are the same:
Hulu, if that doesn't work the official site of the networks allow people to watch the shows, if that doesn't work, wait a couple of days, download the shows, watch them, and delete them. I've done it a lot of times.

Hulu only has certain episodes, it's not going to have a whole lot of episodes from the shows I want to watch (I've checked). I also know how to download shows and watch them and then delete them but it takes time to download an episode or a movie. My point was to illustrate that I won't just be able to get home from a shitty day at work and watch a marathon of Cold Case or Criminal Minds to calm down and veg like I do now, that's all, this wasn't a request that ten people tell me to download episodes and delete them. I know this comes out as bitchy and if you want to take it that way, then I can't stop you, but I'm just explaining why I was making this post to vent about why I'm sad to lose cable and then I get home with a bunch of people telling me what to do to "fix" that problem when I didn't ask for advice.

It drives me up the wall how places calculate income. By the books, I make about 6,000 a year in earned income, which as it turns out, also happens to be what my rent costs in a year. If it weren't for the extra 6 grand I get from school loans a year, I would literally either never eat or else eat like a king and live on the streets ( ... )
