EXORCIST OR NOAH?When they, those that possessed pieces of the Heart Innocence, came to the world, with them they brought one to three different objects that were inhabited by that magical property. They gently glow, symbolizing this, but no one has an answer as to why. Nobody seems to be particularly concerned with helping them get home...
After all, this is religious war. Soldiers are needed.
As this phenomena becomes more common, the Order sends out more Finders to hunt down these "rogue Innocence users," with the intent to recruit them into the Order, by force if it's absolutely necessary. And at the same time, the Earl and the Noah family are on the hunt for the very same thing, with the intent to coerce more to assist them as well. Although the Heart of Innocence has been separated, the destruction of the individual pieces leads to some rather promising effect on their former users...
Who comes across them first may ultimately decide their fate in this world.
Path of an Exorcist
There's a chance one of those items may be activated soon, or a few days, or even weeks into their stay, too, whether they've got assistance or not. What happens when the item is activated? The Innocence has "opened" it up--and now it may be used as a weapon. In very, very rare cases, the Innocence activated will actually be within a person's body, in which, some part of them will become a weapon. Who knows? Either way, the acceptance of this Innocence will probably gain them a place in the Black Order, if they choose to accept it--a lesser Exorcist, so to speak, until they've received proper training.
But just because one possesses Innocence doesn't mean they want to help the Order. There is another path to choose.
Path of a Noah
If for some reason the user wishes to destroy this special piece of Heart Innocence, something strange will happen to them. They'll find that even if they had lost a weapon that could be wielded from that Innocence-laden object, they've gained one new, special power, unique to them. This power is only accessible when they use a new form they've gained: a "black" form where their skin grows darker and a set of three crosses runs across their forehead.
Because of the Earl's accidental alteration of the Heart Innocence, it now punishes those who dare to destroy it. They are stuck as a "lesser Noah" until they manage to leave the world, regardless if the decision is regretted or not. As a result, the lesser Noah will inherently experience feelings of "darkness" while in their black form, marked by a desire to kill, and do the bidding of the Earl.
They should be warned to not give entirely into their darkness, however. Who knows what sort of monster they might become.
JOURNALS AND GOLEM.
Apocrypha
Descending into the world, not only will individuals find themselves in the possession of one to three glowing objects, but a separate one tucked under their arm, in their clothing, or wherever, will be there as well. It is an old, leather-bound book with the words APOCRYPHA written across it in aged lettering. Opening it up (after undoing the belt wrapped around it for protection), it is written:
"Within this book, the writings of the apostle ___ are henceforth contained."
The blank space will be replaced with the full name of the individual. Inside there is also a feather pen which seems to never run out of ink, that they may use to record their journey. Surprisingly, if they write within it, they might find the book writing back at them... And not only that, but there is a separate section in the back of the book, the corner of the page folded down to mark it. Within these pages, it seems there are continually new words being written--not by them, but... well, who knows who?

Ever since the Apocrypha phenomenon, the Order as well as the Earl have developed their own similar devices by the same name, partially outdating their golems, although the journals are not able to be used as a phone as those are.
They work in the same way as the Innocence Apocrypha, although the Exorcist Apocrypha are purely machine, and rather than being paper, are much like tiny handheld computers with pens to write on the screen. Noah Apocrypha's workings are unknown, but are much more similar to Innocence Apocrypha, being full of actual paper, but seem to be produced from some kind of dark magic.
Golems
Golems are common in this century, or at least, among those involved in the religious war. They tend to be small rounded or triangular "creatures" with wings, able to fly around as well as communicate with other golems over distances (a couple of kilometers; for anything further they must be connected to an actual phone), apparently part machine as well. They are commonly used as phones by the Black Order.
