☾ 01 ☽ Video/ Quill / Action in Gryffindor Dorm then Common Room

[ By the time Minato finally sits on the trunk at the foot of his bed to take a good look at the Commuter, he's already read over the letter two or three times and carefully picked through the contents of the chest - not to mention, of course, the requisite staring around the room and down at himself (and oh look, yet another new school uniform) in ( Read more... )

[ Minako's handwriting.. isn't the best, really. In fact, it's a little on the sloppy side, even if it's still readable. Not to mention every dot on an i has been replaced by a heart, typically. ]

It's a school for witchcraft and wizardry, of course! And you know what that means? Magic!

[ No, hearts make it the best. ]

Real magic or pulling rabbits out of hats magic?

[ It makes it recognizable, at least.. this is why she could never fake notes from her parents or whatever. ]

I don't know, maybe you could pull rabbits out of hats with this kind of magic too? I'd have to ask someone about it!

[ Unless her mom wrote things the same way! ]

But this magic is cast with wands?

[He's been looking sidelong at that wand in between writing to Minako, you see.]

[There is now a girl on your screen. She holds up a wand towards a blank sheet of paper. Her lips mumble and short, unintelligible incantation and fire begins to spill out of the tip of the wand like mollasses.

The fire ignites the paper, and it quickly is singed down into nonexistence.

She smirks.]

This kind of witchcraft and wizardry.

[He watches this quietly, and once the paper has burned and the girl has spoken, he nods, curious but not particularly startled by the magic.]

I see. [A short glance to the side at his wand sitting beside him as he contemplates both what he just saw and what he'd been told via quill not long before. Then he looks back to this girl.] ... what was that spell?

It's referred to as "Incendio." [She waves her wand a bit theatrically in confident silence. While otherwise a totally embarrassing, self-indulgent action...When in Hogwarts...]

I wouldn't recommend it as your first foray into the egregious world of spellcraft, lest you accidentally light Gryffindor up in flames. [The girl cups her chin for but a moment.] Not that anyone from my house would particularly mind...

[And then another wave of her and, this time much more mundane.]
Regardless, whatever form of the arcane you're used to, this is not it, and it takes a bit of getting used to.

Incendio. [He repeats it softly to cement it in his memory, but then he nods.] No, setting this place on fire wouldn't make for a good start.

But -- your house?

[ And another nod, this one accompanied by a sigh. ]
I suppose it does. Can you recommend a good place to start for familiarizing myself with it? [After all, if the letter is anything to go by, being prepared seems the best route at this point.]

[Those first characters, strange to her as they are, catch her attention.] They teach us sorcery in many forms, sir - there are charms, and hexes, and changing the forms of things. We're also taught in potions and the care of magical plants, and there are other lessons one can take as well, about magical beasts, or astronomy, or even flying.

My name is Minato Arisato, so you do not need to call me 'sir.' [There's then a pause as he mulls over the list of subjects ere he continues.]

But I see. Thank you for the information. If you don't mind, could you explain what you mean by charms and hexes? And flying?

[Everything else is self-explanatory, but he's not used to those two terms for magic, and the idea of learning how to fly really catches his attention.]

[The Unicorn had decided that using the quill feature, while a bit annoying, was easier than having people gawk at her.]

It is a school of magic, as far as I have come to understand. Are you unfamiliar with such?

I am not unfamiliar with some magic, but I was uncertain if something more was meant by 'witchcraft and wizardry.' Someone has just explained to me what it encompasses, however.

[There is a pause before he adds a line, having come to realize that it was probably a bit rude of him to just broadcast a question to everyone without at least an introduction...] By the way, since it seems we are likely to be here for some time, my name is Minato Arisato.

[Unlike most creatures, the Unicorn is often very blunt.]

I am glad you found an answer for your question Minato Arisato. I am a Unicorn.

A Unicorn? [Well... that's a bit unexpected, but he doesn't think it's that strange for a unicorn to exist, though he does wonder how she writes, if she's anything like the unicorn persona he has made use of in the past. He supposes maybe she uses her horn?] Pleased to meet you. Is there a name you prefer to be called or would you prefer to simply be addressed as Unicorn?
