That is SO great! I'm glad you are having such a great start.. It sounds as if you are exceptional in what you do but it is really nice to be appreciated. It can make all the difference.

Thank you.

I most certainly don't think I'm particularly exceptional! Many (most) of my jobs have been as a receptionist, with an occasional fancy "personal assistant" title thrown in. I've never been one of those people who "manages" the Manager, if you know what I mean.

I've picked up a lot of things over the 25 years that I've worked that I haven't been trained for. All I need is for someone to ask me to do something, and I'll do my very best to achieve that. This usually entails a lot of Help File browsing, or telephone calls, if that's what's needed.

I don't even know how to use Powerpoint, which is something I'll need to use in this job. They're happy to send me off to do a course.

And yes, it is nice to be appreciated.

Oh, this sounds wonderful! And they're going to send you off for a course! Oh la la!

Maewyn, I am so thrilled. And all those good things she said about you -- totally, utterly deserved. But it's about time someone employing you said these things.

Woo hoo!

Not only are they sending me to learn Powerpoint, but also on a First Aid certificate course. My own business cards are being printed as well! I sometimes think I ought to pinch myself to make sure this is really happening!

Thank you! It really shocked me that she said those things. I consider myself to be rather ordinary, to tell you the truth. I don't have a great deal of confidence, but I'll definitely give it my best!

So, if your boss's Powerpoint presentations cause a sensation, you can go about resuscitating anyone who is completely overwhelmed by their excellence.
