I can't sleep.  This afternoon we went to the pool to swim, and on the way home we called into Browns Road, just off the Kingston end of the southern outlet, to pick up my car, which I had left outside Hans's work.  Hans dropped me, and waited while I started my car, and then we both headed off home.  About 100 metres down Browns Road, where it is ( Read more... )

The day rises from heat to heat.  I rise early, the only time of day which is bearable.  The morning breaks fresh and clear, tendrils of cool air caress my bare skin, as I move around the garden.  A paradise of light and shadow, deep shade and pale early light dapples the lawn, creating pools of  delicious chill beneath the trees.  A green oasis ( Read more... )

I have a new pair of snappy green bike shoes!  They are a most beautiful colour.  Took the bike out this morning for a jaunt, and found that the shoes worked beautifully.  Last night, Hans swapped the saddle over from my old bike, bought way back in 1983, and now sitting over at Howden rusting behind the shed.  The saddle on my new bike remained a ( Read more... )
