After 15 years of various blunders, I am thinking of switching from Dean to GHC during the upcoming open enrollment period. I might have done it sooner, but as near as I can recall I was mostly put off by the fact that there were, like, three dental places you could go in town. Just checking. Have you checked out their website?
www.ghc-hmo.com

They do answer alot of questions, and you can look at profiles of clinicians.

Especially this page.

I've been with GHC since 2001, and been totally happy, although I haven't had any serious illnesses, or anything complicated that would test the system ( ... )

I was very happy with GHC when my family was with them. It was never a hassle getting appointments, and just about everything you could think of was covered. And I loved our PCP (Dr. Mark Olinger - he was at the Capitol Clinic, then moved to the new Fitchburg location and we followed him there). He doesn't have the most stellar bedside manner, and was frequently late for appointments (he delivers babies which is always throwing his schedule off). But he was great to work with. He's an older guy with a lot of experience in medicine, so he's seen it all and was very knowledgeable and reassuring, but he also kept up with the latest advances in medicine and was very open-minded about a lot of things. He'd always take the time to answer questions (I never felt rushed, even though he probably had 6 other people waiting to see him) and was very generous with referrals ( ... )

I was with GHC about 6 years ago so things may be different now. I thought it was great unless except for psychiatric services. The only good thing I can say about their "approved" therapists was at least they were on time.
