Medication makes the world go 'round.

So thanks to my flu I am temporarily off my most recent migraine medication. What does this mean? First, it means I have a whopping migraine. Hooray. Second, it means I am temporarily in full control of my faculties again. So I figure I might as well say this now:

Ranting, writing, braining, self-indulging, and maybe a little whining. )

ego, random complaining, writing thoughts

Just being overly paranoid here but has your doctor actually checked that it is still migraines and not something else?

Yeah, I've been scanned and scanned again, although I could probably use another MRI at some point. So far it's pretty classic migraines though, just very chronic and getting more severe as time goes on. The symptoms I get are straight up textbook migraine stuff like aphasia, dizziness, the aura stage, and other wonderful bits of brain dysfunction.

Take your time. Get well. That's what matters, sweetie. (yeah, I know I'm not be all clever and all - I've been sick enough myself to have great sympathy here.)

I used to get migraines quite frequently. My eyes would start to hurt and then, suddenly, it would seem like someone shoved an icepick through the back of my skull.

My cousin used to get them too, until his then-doctor, told him to try steaming it out. According to him, it was quite possible that the front saliva glands were filled with filled with all kinds of crap, which caused the pain. After he did that a few times (and it did get rid of all the stuff there), he was free of the pain.

I did the same thing, using chamomile drops. You can use dried chamomile too. Anyway, ever since then, I've not had a single case of migraine, going on for six years now. From time to time, I do have a little bit of headache but an advil clears it up in a while. Not saying this is the magic cure you're looking for, but it can't hurt to try.

In the meantime, we'll be here, to listen to you rant, buddy.

The annoying thing about migraines from a medical perspective is there seems to be a thousand different causes, a thousand different treatments, and no real understanding of how to deal with them. What's a miracle cure for one person is completely useless for someone else. What triggers a migraine for one person is totally fine for someone else. It's surprisingly complicated for something that's so common.

I'll look into the saliva thing, but I gotta admit that sounds an awful lot like a placebo effect to me. Saliva glands filled with "all kinds of crap?" That sounds like toxin nonsense, which raises red flags for me.

Not saying the chamomile didn't work for you, and I'm not saying I'm not glad that it did. Just saying: skeptic guy here.
