Let me get this straight. The Mary Sue/Self-Insertion author-protagonist of the Twilight series is a perfect beautiful jewel of a girl whose only flaw is that she's clumsy ( Read more... )

Even in parody, it's difficult to live in Twilight world for very long.

It's not parody. Well, I guess it's poor parody. But it's mostly about how everything in the books corresponds to crazy Mormonism.

(no offense to Mormonism, crazy or otherwise, of course. It's just as ridiculous as any other religion.)

P.S.) Alice watched Manos yesterday, completely without encouragement or prodding. S-she's a grown-up now.

Mac, I am such an avid lurker of your posts and I have to say that this is one of the best! Thank you so much for this! I am so sick and tired of have to explain myself to people why this entire series is such utter shite. I was in a writing workshop this previous semester at Uni and an assignment was to take a character that we had previously encountered and further develop them in anyway that we saw fit. You want to know what work 12 out of the
13 girls chose a character from? Fucking Twilight. I was the only girl who didn't.

Don't even get me started on all the twats who think that because they read the series they know all there is to know about vampires.

I hate people sometimes. Mac, please write a book so there will be something worth reading again. I'll go back to lurking now.

I hate people sometimes.

Only sometimes? Amateur!

Although now I'd really like to write a book just so I could dedicate it to nezzid, a lurker on my livejournal that really hates Twilight. How delightfully subversive.
