.... I don't have SyFy now so I haven't been bothering to try to keep up, and now I'm glad I'm not. I was uneasy enough just from the way Season 4 ended; now I think I'll wait for all of 5 to finish and hit up the spoiler sites before deciding if I'll watch any of it. And I used to adore this show. *mourns*
The women in the episode primarily exist to be sex objects first and their boyfriend's property next. Except for Grace, who is too old, I suppose. Grace, of course, just gets shunted to the side and then into the role of the leaving girlfriend.
And, thank you, Eureka writers, for saying that attractive men and women can never be friends without thinking about having sex with each other! It's good to know you're so smart on subjects like that. This, basically. Ugh, that episode was so gross. I just...I don't have an issue with Allison wearing sexy underwear to bed because maybe she had intended for sexy!timez to happen so she prepared. But why couldn't we have THAT scene? The scene with Allison and Jack 're-connecting' or whatever? Why did the nice Zane and Jo shower!sex have to turn into THIS?! Oh right...because it's 'funny'...SUCH bullshit
( ... )
I wouldn't have had an issue with Allie's undies if they'd made some sort of logical sense. Like if it was obvious she'd gotten up and put them on for morning shenanigans. But there is no way to convince me that was comfy sleepwear, and, just--the way the whole scene was framed and how they made sure to get at least one more shot of her after brushing her teeth (and it was a full-body shot), just. smacks of dudes sitting around going "durrr, she's hawt! Show us her ass again!"
A friend of mine used to wear sexy lingerie to bed all the time 'just in case' anything might happen with her new boyfriend, so I guess I don't think it's totally implausible. That being said, ITA that there was no reason for the full-body shots. It's one thing to show her wearing something sexy in bed, but there's no reason to follow her to the bathroom and back.
My least favorite part, except for Grace leaving and the whole Jo-secretly-has-feelings-for-Jack-and-now-Allison-knows-so-we-can-avoid-any-pesky-scenes-of-just-female-characters-unless-it's-too-awkward-to-count ridiculous crap......sorry that was long.....was how both Jack and Zane neglected to inform Jo and Allison that they weren't who they appeared to be, and that was brushed off as a joke.
But of course it was a joke! Lol, like women might be offended or anything, tee hee. (ARGH) Jack, ESPECIALLY, made me incredibly angry. IT IS REALLY EASY TO SAY, "HEY, JO. It's Carter, GO AWAY." ffs. SO EASY. Zane really DID seem to think it was a dream until Jack called him. (though I'm not sure I'm happy knowing Zane has fantasies of Allison in the shower....)
I pretty much agree dead on with you for everything. The only thing that made me smile at the end was Jack proposing to Allison. The two are a very cute couple and I so wish the writers hadn't written such a sucktastic episode just to get him to propose.
I'm still confused about the engagement, though--I thought they got married/engaged last season, when Wally Shawn was around? I guess it was just a "we like each other" ceremony or something.
