The women in the episode primarily exist to be sex objects first and their boyfriend's property next. Except for Grace, who is too old, I suppose. Grace, of course, just gets shunted to the side and then into the role of the leaving girlfriend.
And, thank you, Eureka writers, for saying that attractive men and women can never be friends without thinking about having sex with each other! It's good to know you're so smart on subjects like that.
This, basically. Ugh, that episode was so gross. I just...I don't have an issue with Allison wearing sexy underwear to bed because maybe she had intended for sexy!timez to happen so she prepared. But why couldn't we have THAT scene? The scene with Allison and Jack 're-connecting' or whatever? Why did the nice Zane and Jo shower!sex have to turn into THIS?! Oh right...because it's 'funny'...SUCH bullshit.
And I love how the actual development between one of these couples is just a blink-and-you-missed-it scene where Grace says she's leaving. But that's apparently not as important as conversations about Fargo peeing whilst in Jack's body or Jack teasing Zane about eating unhealthy food. And then they throw the proposal, which should've been an important moment, at the end of this episode and I can't even care that a ship I've shipped since the pilot is taking such a big step in their relationship because I have to watch Jo pine away for a man she apparently has feelings for even though there's never been anything to suggest that, prior to this season.
Eureka writers, you are making it very hard for me to care about your show right now. And to think, I really enjoyed season 4...
I wouldn't have had an issue with Allie's undies if they'd made some sort of logical sense. Like if it was obvious she'd gotten up and put them on for morning shenanigans. But there is no way to convince me that was comfy sleepwear, and, just--the way the whole scene was framed and how they made sure to get at least one more shot of her after brushing her teeth (and it was a full-body shot), just. smacks of dudes sitting around going "durrr, she's hawt! Show us her ass again!"
A friend of mine used to wear sexy lingerie to bed all the time 'just in case' anything might happen with her new boyfriend, so I guess I don't think it's totally implausible. That being said, ITA that there was no reason for the full-body shots. It's one thing to show her wearing something sexy in bed, but there's no reason to follow her to the bathroom and back.
