bird attacks and tree attacks

We took a bike ride today. While circling the pond at a nearby park, we rode by bushes where some red-wing blackbirds live (they were there previous years too, I recall). And... one of them attacked the back of my head! Gyah!! My mum got attacked too. It was crazy. But we survived unharmed ( Read more... )

They probably had eggs or chicks nearby. I think its rather noble they would be willing to try to fight off something 100 times their own size...

Yeah, they're pretty brave birds! That same place a couple years ago, the same kind of birds got all fussy when I was trying to drop off a frog we'd found in our yard there by the pond. I think I brought it to another bush because I thought they might attack the frog too if they found it...

Ooohhh noooo! Cowardly birds! Why don't they fight you face to face!? (Just kidding; we know they probably were just trying to protect something.)

But wow, we've never seen birds attack people, except for geese, but they're just temperamental. And of course on TV and in anime and stuff when there's something evil and scary going on.

Ohhh it all makes sense now. Lys must have been up to something evil and scary. Animals can sense that kind of thing. You think you know someone... :)

Haha! Maybe they would've gone for my face if I hadn't been speeding by on a bike. Thinking that way, I guess I'm glad it attacked from the back. I wouldn't want to lose my nose like the maid in the rhyme!

Ooh yeah, geese are pretty cranky. We didn't see any at the pond this time. (good thing!) We did see a duck, though, with like a million fuzzy ducklings swimming behind her!! (or maybe 10 or 12. that still seemed like a lot.)
