The Obligatory Engagement Post

Okay, so by now you're all probably aware that Jared and Sandy are engaged.  There have been several, several posts about this across fandom, and rather than replying to everybody else's journal, I've decided to just post my own thoughts on my own journal and get it over with.

First off, I am happy for them.  Truly.  This will in no way impact my ( Read more... )

*grins* Ah, publicity weddings. They're always fun. Reminds me of the Anthea Turner(English TV presenter) marriage photos, where she and her new husband posed with brandname chocolate bars for some reason. The backlash from the British public was insaneI have seen the many multitudes of millions posts about how terrible/sad/beautiful/tragic/awesome/trashy/'insert descriptor here' it is that Jared and Sandy were getting married. I have ignored pretty much the whole lot of them because I have to admit, I don't care. Hell, I don't care whenever a friend or family member 'shares the joyous news' that they are getting married (to the point that I'm renowned for my lack of enthusiasm.) Weddings make me want to stick my tongue out and pull faces like a four-year-old eating brussel sprouts! On the plus side, there's no possibility of being invited to Jared and Sandy's wedding, so at least I don't have to think up excuses not to attend this time :D ( ... )

Yeah, I get the wedding thing. I'm usually at the "crap, can I get out of it without destroying a friendship?" place when people ask me to go.

And as far as fic writing goes, I completely agree, which is why I posted what I did. I've seen people say "If they get engaged/married, I'm out of this fandom!" *dramatic swoon added for emphasis* I really don't get that. for the love of bob, in the fics I'm working on, Sandy or Daneel only exist about 50% of the time anyway. no big.

And I'd never get bored listening to someone bitch about weddings. I dislike them intensely. If I could myself get married, I might feel different, but in this country and in this state, that's not going to happen any time soon, so until then, I'm bitter. :D

*laughs* Oh, sweetie, my general response to "We're getting married." is "Oh, right, okay then." I've organised three of the bloody things and bridesmaided four and I still hate them ( ... )

Yeah, you know, even if I could get married, I don't know that I would. We've been together for nine years (later this month is actually our anniversary), so I think that we're pretty damn committed. The commitment phobia sort of faded off about year five, honestly, 'cause he's just...the right guy. I just don't know if I need a ceremony to prove it to the world.

Okay, that's enough there before I get any more sappy. Ug.
