now all that's left are pictures on the wall, memories, the stories that are told

I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year!  I spent mine with quirkyoppossum , and spent some time not only hanging with her housemate, but also her family.   We played a lot of Rock Band and Beatles Rock Band, and watched a bit of Classic!Who together (Fourth Doctor era, woohoo!).  In addition, we also did some vidding for Fringe -- created an entirely AU ( Read more... )

Hooray for Sam Tyler. (Sorry, just thought I'd say it!)

Never apologise for being stoked to see the awesomeness of Sam Tyler commended. :) He truly is amazing, and I love him to the ends of the Earth. If only there were more coppers like him.

Good luck to all your aims in the year, especially speaking Welsh, my Mum is Welsh and both my brothers speak it while I never learnt more than three words. *fail at languages though*

Oh thanks! Yes, learning Welsh is going to be a handful. And there's no real reason for me to try, actually. I just think it sounds kind of like fun. Something random for me to attempt. I fail at languages, but at least there are few people in the States who can call me on it as I work to make myself more proficient.

This was really lovely - I'm one of the people who completely fell for Sam over those 16 episodes, and you have just summed him up really well. Thanks! :)

You're welcome! I fell in love with Sam too (obviously), and I wish that I could have said more about him, but I try to keep from giving spoilers in case I entice people to watch the shows I go on and on about. Because man...that final episode gave SO MUCH reason to love Sam.

I can't watch an episode without wanting to hug him and never let him go.

Would you mind if I copied your blog post to the Simm-ply Simm forum, along with your name and a link to your blog? It would fit really well on our 'Why do we love Sam Tyler?' thread. Or you could always log on to the forum and post it yourself... ;)

Feel free to post the link. I'd be honoured! I'm always happy to have fellow John Simm fans read and/or comment about what I've written on his characters. Especially Sam Tyler. :)

-- and then eats you up and spits you back out again.

Pessimistic, but very true for very many, I think. We end up doing things because we feel an obligation, or because it's better than doing nothing. I do know what you mean, but I won't go into it here. Have a virtual hug.

Learning WELSH! :D I'm still mightily impressed by this, and await the day when we can have a conversation in two completely unitelligible languages that neither of us understand. Níor thainig sé sin amach ceart, ach ceapaim gur dtuigin tú. ;) (That didn't come out right, but I think you get me. You can test it here for proof! :D)

And I swear, if you come to England, I'll find a way to pop over and say hello. :D

*accepts virtual hug*

Yes, I think most people understand what I was saying here a bit too well. And that's what really makes me sad. I mean, when did being happy with what we do in life become *idealistic*? I always thought it was our right, but according to the generation before mine it's apparently not something for which I should be waiting. Personally, I think the modern world has just forgotten the definitions of "ideal," and "rights." Kind of like how most people don't know what "Irony" really is, to quote a constant annoyance of Castle's, lol.

And yes, it will be hilarious as hell when we can finally meet up and then not understand each other. I can't wait! ;) And I LOLed at the Google translation.

I don't know, but it's just not fair. :(

OMG, Castle is my hero in that regard. I cannot STAND incorrect English. I don't mean American English - I'm usually just being stupid when I correct that - but actual glaring mistakes. ANd duncery.

So I've started this postgrad in Primary Teaching, and it's online and there are other students online too. They have this forum thing where you can do Facebookish stuff, but some people take it way too literally and load pictures of themselves on nights out and link to their ACTUAL Facebook. Like...really. That's not the point though; the point is that there's this knobhead in my group, and I haven't met him yet and he's already making me sick. Here is a direct quotation of his from the boards that ALL OUR EXAMINERS CAN READ:

wel..ah no i done Arts last year in NUIG but ya tink i recognise ur name from somewhere alrit, i had a good few friends dat done commerce tho. how ya finding this so far? have ya been doin all dem lessons yet? are all them new ones marked or wats d story do ya kno ( ... )

I haven't slept in almost 27 hours, so hopefully these responses will make sense, lol. If my typing gets wonky, forgive me. ;)

MY GOD, HOW DID THAT GUY GET IN POSTGRAD?! My eye is twitching just trying to read it. And here I was thinking Irish postgrad work HAD to be more difficult to accepted into than American ones. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity...truly. Or at least my faith in their ability to write intelligent sentences. For some reason, my brain is reading it with a Jamaican accent. :/
