now all that's left are pictures on the wall, memories, the stories that are told

I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year!  I spent mine with quirkyoppossum , and spent some time not only hanging with her housemate, but also her family.   We played a lot of Rock Band and Beatles Rock Band, and watched a bit of Classic!Who together (Fourth Doctor era, woohoo!).  In addition, we also did some vidding for Fringe -- created an entirely AU ( Read more... )

I don't know, but it's just not fair. :(

OMG, Castle is my hero in that regard. I cannot STAND incorrect English. I don't mean American English - I'm usually just being stupid when I correct that - but actual glaring mistakes. ANd duncery.

So I've started this postgrad in Primary Teaching, and it's online and there are other students online too. They have this forum thing where you can do Facebookish stuff, but some people take it way too literally and load pictures of themselves on nights out and link to their ACTUAL Facebook. Like...really. That's not the point though; the point is that there's this knobhead in my group, and I haven't met him yet and he's already making me sick. Here is a direct quotation of his from the boards that ALL OUR EXAMINERS CAN READ:

wel..ah no i done Arts last year in NUIG but ya tink i recognise ur name from somewhere alrit, i had a good few friends dat done commerce tho. how ya finding this so far? have ya been doin all dem lessons yet? are all them new ones marked or wats d story do ya kno??

iv been in and out a the hospital for d last week wit my back so hasn been d best start for me didn get as much don as i wanted. av been chatn to a few d tutors tho and dey were sayin ya just do ur english lesson for d english on-site and d geography lessons for the geography on-site and so on, but i can never be too sure bout dis yoke. honestly i don kno if we are meant to kno them off by heart or just look at them..anyone else kno or wit any other ideas???

I haven't slept in almost 27 hours, so hopefully these responses will make sense, lol. If my typing gets wonky, forgive me. ;)

MY GOD, HOW DID THAT GUY GET IN POSTGRAD?! My eye is twitching just trying to read it. And here I was thinking Irish postgrad work HAD to be more difficult to accepted into than American ones. I'm starting to lose faith in humanity...truly. Or at least my faith in their ability to write intelligent sentences. For some reason, my brain is reading it with a Jamaican accent. :/

BAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

...okay...calming now.

I can completely understand why (again, nobody here talks like that - northside Dubliners might say "tha'" for "that", but with a harder "th-" than normal) but it just highlights HOW STUPID IT IS.

I think it's probably easier to get into Irish colleges than American ones (also, we don't have insane fees - yet), but our coursework is definitely graded harder. You have to be blonde and known to the lecturer, or sleep with them to get anything in the A category. :P Even in maths. My sister, my blonde friend and all the Canadians and Americans I went to college with can attest to this. :D

HOW ARE YOU STILL FUNCTIONING. Go to bed, woman!
