how does it feel to treat me like you do?

Nov 23, 2010 08:23

Just watched the episode of Moving On from two weeks ago that starred John Simm.  Now, I had never seen any of this programme before (which is in its second series), but I watch literally everything I can get my hands on that has John Simm in it (cos I am in love and have been for years).  Thankfully, each episode of this show has its own set of ( Read more... )

Now I'm going to have to look up the show with Glenister and Simm cause I like both of them. Especially Glenister.

Thanx for the tip...

You're welcome for the tip! It's called Mad Dogs, and I haven't been able to find an official date for its release as of yet, but I am really looking forward to it.

I just found out that the DVD is now available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk (may also be available in the States?) for release on 31st January, so I imagine its going to air on Sky TV early January....(it's four episodes I think)and I can't wait for this! The idea of John Simm, Marc Warren and Philip Glennister all in a swimming pool (some of whom are definitely skinny-dipping but you can't tell from the footage who! But at least one maybe two of them.... *flails*) is simply mind-blowing.... the trailer also shows John in the shower (nothing below mid-stomach level of course... *drat*).... *faints*

Thanks so much for the info! At least now I know I don't have to wait for *too* much longer cos it feels as though they announced the film a lifetime ago. And then never gave out any more details. SO EXCITED NOW. And those images you painted in my brain with three of my favourite men in a pool made me very happy...plus John in a shower? *iz ded*

:D ROFL at your clothes description. Turned into a TNBC dialogue. Which is awesome, of course. I have two TNBC t-shirts. One is smallish, black and purple with Jack and some patterns on it. The other has Sally and the phrase "I like pale, skinny guys" on it. Bought because of my infatuation with a pale, skinny guy that turned out to be a dick. :P

Your Dominic West question sounded like it needed to be solved, and I can tell you that after a thorough investigation and a donning of my Sherlock hat, YES, he was Cromwell in The Devil's Whore and you're pretty fantastic to recall all of that. Since you're a big John Simm fan, did you watch Skellig? I wanted to see it, but I forgot to set Sky+ (or we didn't have it at the time, I dunno) and I never saw it. I still want to though, but it's one of those things I forget. The 10th Kingdom was another show whose ads fascinated me when it was on, but I never got round to watching it properly. :( Though Tin Man seems like it kinda riffed on that. But then, I LOVE Tin Man (and there isn't even ( ... )

I have five TNBC shirts. I have the "I Dig Scrawny Pale Guys" one, one of Sally sitting on the hill that says "My dearest friend, if you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side." One with Jack and Sally that says "True Love," the one I described, and then one that's black and really colourful that just has Jack and Sally standing together. Sadly, the one about scrawny, pale guys is true for me too and was bought for me by a friend of mine, lol ( ... )

OMG, that's a lot of shirts! :D I'm highly amused that we have the exact same obscure shirt though.

I have to see Skellig somehow, but do you know what I did this morning? I went and feckin' ordered The 10th Kingdom AND Alice. I think they both have to come from the States, but I got two optimistic little emails telling me they'd been shipped, so WOO, MORE STUFF TO WATCH! :D

Yeah, there were some parts of Tin Man that I just wasn't terribly pushed about, but it was so pretty (and dammit, I can't help loving Zooey Deschanel, even though I'm not a hipster chick) and I just looooooved OZ and the ... everything. If the look of a thing is perfect, then I'm quite happy to overlook story problems. Sleeping Beauty is my favourite Disney princess and she's not even in most of the damn film, but the artwork and backgrounds are just so amazingly fantastic that I don't care what a stupid story it is. Aeon Flux too. But I actually like the story in that too. The film, I mean, not the animé thing. Have you seen it? I think I'll put it on ( ... )

I am SO excited you bought The 10th Kingdom and Alice. You won't regret it. They are both epic and beautiful and I fangirl both series SO.HARD. You would think they were telly shows the way I go on about them. Alice was literally the only thing getting me through the 8 week Fringe hiatus last spring. I watched it over and over again the whole time...and got addicted to Alice fanfic, the bulk of which is actually good writing (hard to believe, I know). And I quote The 10th Kingdom on a regular basis. Half my friends even wrote the phrase "suck an elf" in my high school senior yearbook because it's the phrase they most associate with me (you'll get it when you see the film ( ... )

I don't mind comments on my journal at all, especially when it's people remarking on John Simm. :) I love the man so freakin' much that it's ridiculous. My friends back in uni used to call me Mrs Simm (no matter how often I reminded them that he is already married ( ... )

I think what I liked most about the SimmMaster (apart from his hotness of course) was the element of vulnerability - just a hint of it in the Series 3 episodes but loads more in TEOT. Somehow John seems to make even the most unsympathetic of characters likeable! (and you can't get much more unsympathetic than a sociopathic, possibly even psychopathic, murdering alien I'd have thought!!) It's a rare talent. He once said in an interview that he always looks for something he can identify with in any role, and cited it as the reason he could never play a paedophile. I would think its probably the one role that would be extremely hard to create any sympathy for - I remember Matthew Macfadden (formerly of 'Spooks' (or MI5 as you know it in the US) fame and who is married to Keely Hawes)tackled such a role and thinking it was very brave of him. Have no idea if he was any good because I couldn't bear to watch it ( ... )

John really can make any character likable. I mean, they tried to make Sexby as ugly as possible, both in terms of personality AND looks (according the production team), and yet he still made Sexby the most lovable character in the series. And when Angelica broke his heart...well, let's just say some of my more violent tendencies almost broke out. I never forgave her for that. Who would look twice at that git Christian when they have the awesome Sexby around?! I just didn't understand her character at all ( ... )

Just a note: John and Dominic first appeared together in that little-known film, "Diana & Me," in 1997. I think that was the start of their beautiful friendship. John appears to be very loyal to his friends (including Jimmy McGovern, creator of "Moving On") which is probably why he appeared in this episode.
