Just watched the episode of Moving On from two weeks ago that starred John Simm. Now, I had never seen any of this programme before (which is in its second series), but I watch literally everything I can get my hands on that has John Simm in it (cos I am in love and have been for years). Thankfully, each episode of this show has its own set of characters and they're basically hour long films instead of a show with a continuing story arc.
To be honest, at the beginning, I thought Simm's character Moose was going to be a bad guy. I quickly discovered though that there was no bad guy and his character was actually someone you should feel sorry for, even if you aren't a person who automatically sides with John Simm no matter who he plays. (I mean, I sided with the Master over the Doctor, for crying out loud, and the Master is totally psychotic! But, Simm played him SO BRILLIANTLY).
I don't think I could stomach watching a show like Moving On every week (cos it's freaking depressing based on this particular tale), but I adored it. Superb acting not only from him, but from the rest of the cast as well. Beautiful story. And, as usual, when John Simm cried, I wanted to both hug him and smack the woman who caused the tears.
I tell you this last year long dry-spell of there being no Simm on my screen (he hasn't been on anything since playing the Master for the final time in last year's DW Christmas and New Years specials) has been one year too long. Blast him leaving telly to play Hamlet for so long! However, he and Marc Warren and Philip Glenister (both of whom played opposite John Simm in both Life on Mars and State of Play) are going to be in a series on Channel 4 sometime in early 2011. I CANNOT WAIT. I need more Simm, Warren, and Glenister in my life.
Another interesting thing to note is that this episode of Moving On was directed by Dominic West. I wonder if that's the *actor* Dominic West, because if so he played Oliver Cromwell in the Channel 4 series The Devil's Whore, which also starred John Simm (as Edward Sexby). I should check that out, lol.
And since it's been a few days, here's day 14 of my 30 Day Meme (I'm so behind).
Day 14: What You Wore Today, in Great Detail:
I already answered this question once before, but I have changed clothes a few times since then, so it can't hurt to answer it twice I guess. Well, during the bulk of the day, I was wearing a pair of faded blue, hip-hugger jeans that have no pockets. They do have a few white paint stains on them from a mission trip back in '05 when I helped repaint a house at one point. (I've had those jeans since '03, and they still fit!) For a shirt, I was wearing a tight, form-fitting, white t-shirt decorated with a Nightmare Before Christmas image showing Jack Skellington standing with Zero. There are skulls and black cats and spiders hanging in the sky with headstones at Jack's feet. Above him, there is a cloud with rain falling from it and the words "Will we ever end up together?" written in the clouds. All the colours are in blacks and greys. On my feet, I wore white socks and, since I was driving all day from picking up my sister from her school for Thanksgiving, I was wearing this pair of slip on platform shoes that are a simple brown colour with white stripes on the side. They're made to resemble bowling shoes, and my mum bought them for me about four years ago when I told her that I wanted a pair of bowling shoes, which confused her because I don't really like bowling very often. I then told her it was more that I liked the look of bowling shoes and wanted to wear them, but mum said that was impractical and bought me a pair of platforms that *resemble* bowling shoes. They have a very sixties retro look to them. I am also wearing the customary grey sports bra and hip-hugger knickers with blue and grey stripes going diagonally. (I know everyone is secretly really curious about my underthings). ;)

Also, since I wrote about my top 50 women (none of whom were placed on the list in any sort of preferential order. I just tried to mix up genres as much as possible), I thought I would write about my top 10 men, only these would be listed from 10-1 in order of seniority. Number 1 being my all time favourite male character. And my description of their awesome would be much more in depth than what I did for my women, since I'm doing less men. Any interest, meme readers? Only one per entry of course. I have a life, you know. (We all know that's a lie).
