[just as he lands on the other side of the hedge, he hears that voice coming from his lapel. he glances down, arching an eyebrow, and notices a strange silver pin stuck to his coat. detaching it, he turns it over a couple times] Ah, yes, I can hear you. [then his fingers feel a slight indent and he presses it, the CAT changing shape to the palm-sized device he'd taken from the basket and lo, there's a picture of a young woman in the holographic projection. lucky for her, he has already checked the CAT out and isn't the least bit surprised to see what it can do.

however, he is surprised that it's on] Hello there! Odd, I don't remember hitting a different setting. How could you hear me? Who are you?

Well, I got that, but--look, never mind. I'll find out soon enough.

[starts to walk again, holding the device up in front of him] I did, yes, and I don't plan on staying for long, Sophie. [ohhhh, he does by now, Brax, so much so that he nearly drops his CAT as his hearts skip a beat. how long has it been since he's heard that voice? or seen that face? most importantly, how can he even be there? he didn't even feel him, though perhaps after all this time, that's a blessing in disguise.
