Torrents of my own failiure are currently being ignored and I am centring my considerable levels of hate instead upon those who made my mother walk and hour and a half back home in the wet and cold. Fucking anti arms factory people were out demonstrating again ( Read more... )

Oh, that Polanski thing. Yeah, one of the writers for the Jezebel blog did a post on it when it came out and she was all like, yeah, this girl kinda knew what she was doing, she was really experienced despite being only 13, and blah blah blah. I was like, WTF, are you kidding? He straight up raped that girl. He fucking gave her booze and Quaaludes and then ass-fucked her! I'm an admirer of his filmmaking but the guy's a sex criminal.

Damn! I'd always thought it was "just" statutory rape...

Yes well it's obviously a great debate as to whether she consented. She says she didn't Polanski says she did and who knows what went down actually. She did have a sexual history and considerable experience with Quaaludes.

However it is, of course irrelevant because her consent is worthless even if she gave it. Morally Polanski is a shit bag.

The reality is though that the judge believed that she consented and in the end it did mean that Polanski was convicted in the end of unlawful sexual intercourse rather than statutory rape which is a lesser charge...

The Smoking Gun website has (or had) a PDF of the grand jury testimony where the victim described how Polanski plied her with champagne and 'ludes. It's some sick shit.

Don't be ridiculous, surely you should know women are to blame for everything?

If a woman is murdered or beaten up? Her fault for staying with the man who did it.
If her children are murdered? Her fault for letting it happen.
Nice how they always pick the mother and not the father, too.

Actually, my lecturer made a wry joke about that in lecture on Monday (not the same one as wrote the thing about Lombroso), about how in traditional justice, women were seen as more dangerous, and traces of that remain. He is a bastard but at least he had a point there.
