It is sort-of halftime between taking my CPE exam and getting the results. The initial great and relieved feeling of being done with it has made room for a more in-depth analysis of what I hope to have achieved. After being paralysed for almost a week upon seeing what the first unit of my new prep book was about, I finally have overcome the fear, resisted giving in to any procrastination urges ("you can just as easily start with unit 2 and go back to that horrible unit 1 after you have finished the book") and am now as good as done ( Read more... )

Last night the new evening school term started. I now have two weeks to decide whether to go for the CPE exam in June.

I guess it would be wise to go ahead and try. I would need to make more time for studying and attending classes than last term, but if I decide to not sign on for the exam, I just know I will find less and less time for studying ( Read more... )

So, I will get my CAE results in a couple of weeks and have started thinking about what to do afterwards. As I see it, I have these options:

Second day of "summer school" for my boys. Each had the task of working 15 minutes with the vocabulary software.

Result: They both worked concentrated for 30 minutes, without complaining, without asking once how much time had passed - they were quite surprised how long they had spent "learning".

Have been good this morning and gone through the "Teacher's Handbook" that is available on the Cambridge ESOL website and contains one full sample exam. Naturally, I cannot do the oral part of the exam nor the listening one - reading the transcripts would somehow beat the purpose of testing listening comprehension.
