Hey, there. This isn't so much just for your community as it is a question for ALL roleplaying communities, because I see this everywhere, and I am thoroughly confused.

The first person samples... I don't get them. I roleplay like your "DO NOT WANT" example here, not like the first two, usually. I ALWAYS put an action, and ALWAYS in complete sentences. Those two are examples of bad writing, so why does every single community ask for such?

First person, to me, means "I picked up the spoon and ate the ice cream."

Also, how does any of that differ from third person? It's ALL third-person to me. Sometimes I'll post long posts, or sometimes short ones with barely an action, if the situation calls for it.

Sorry to bother you guys, and I'm definitely not thinking about joining (because I hate applications with a passion), but I'm REALLY, REALLY confused and curious.

Maybe this is why I stick to dressing rooms...

I can't speak for all roleplays, but rather Luceti alone... what you need to differentiate is first-person in the traditional style, versus first-person in the roleplaying style, which has, over time, developed its own definition. Your example of first-person is the traditional style; roleplaying differs in that it essentially means a journal or a diary entry. If you were to write in a diary, would you write "I picked up the spoon and ate the ice cream"? Most people would write something more like, "I ate ice cream today." It's first-person, but it's written in the roleplaying style.

We do have action-based posts that appear very often in the entries posted in Luceti, such as the "wrong" example:

[She sat up and looked around; the surroundings were very familiar.] Hello? [Standing up, she took a few steps towards the treeline.]HOWEVER. In our application samples, we request for journal/diary style ONLY, excluding any action, because we want to see the applicant's ability to write the character entries. Any "actions" in these samples ( ... )

Okay, so... first-person is essentially hearing a recording done over a tape recorder with the addition of thoughts? What is this used for, and how to characters reply to it?

And third-person is essentially what I do, then? I post voice, action, description of surroundings, and thoughts all in one.

Another few questions for you (SORRY!), what gets posted where? And what about those "roleplay logs?"

First-person can be either written or voice-recorded, and other characters can reply in either way as well. It basically works just like Live Journal.

Third-person is usually reserved for logs, which is like two (or more) players getting together and writing a little play-by-play story about what their characters are doing. Basically journal entries (the first-person samples or action comments) are for the specific character journals, and logs (the third-person samples) go in the log community.

Hi, I have a quick question that doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere else (and if it has, my apologies for wasting mods' time. orz). In the application, there's a spot where it says to request a Q&A for IC answers; I'd like to do that, so how can I get ahold of those -- do I turn in the app requesting the Q&A, or do I ask for them somewhere else and turn the app in finished?

Q&As are requested when you submit the application. A mod will respond with the questions for you to answer directly there.

Ah. Wing question. I'm your Xehanort's Heartless applicant, and it says wings have to be what they're made of.

...As a Heartless, he's technically made of solidified darkness. What does that mean for him?

...I keep meaning to disable comments on this. Generally we answer questions on the FAQ page >_>

Anyway the wings would be just as tangible as his normal Ansem-ish body, basically. If it's solidified darkness, so are the wings. They should be more easily damaged than the rest of him, mind you- the wings by nature are a weakness, after all. It's really up to you to figure out a balance for that.

Generally the wings aren't taken too seriously, so I wouldn't stress over it. If you're still unsure, feel free to talk directly with one of the mods- I'd recommend Emily, as she is more familiar with Kingdom Hearts.
