APP EXAMPLES

FANDOM APPLICATION

Mun

Name: (This is your nickname, or whatever you wish to be called) <--- Very self explanatory, this.
Livejournal Username: Again, no help required.
E-mail: B|
AIM/MSN: Egg has an MSN account, but she only signs on when she needs to. Most of the mods use -and prefer- AIM, so if you have an AIM sn make sure to provide it.
Current Characters at Luceti: This is extremely necessary. Please put the character journal names here, not just the character names.

Character

Name: Full name of the character, aliases, etc.

Fandom: What's their canon? Put the full title here! Also, if possible, please provide the English translations of the titles instead of the long strings of Japanese. It makes it easier for us to look up.

Gender: Self-explanatory

Age: If you don't know the approximate age, just take a guess here. If it's really out there, just put "unspecified." If your character has a physical age that differs from their real age, make sure you tell us here!

Time Period: What time from their point in canon are you taking them; list the most recent event here, "post-game," something like that. Not like..."1700s"

Wing Color: The wings have to be solid. If your character is some kind of ghost or liquid character, obviously this will not apply, but...well, the wings have to be composed of whatever composes your character, basically. No crazy transluscent wings for flesh-and-bone characters.

History: You can put a link here -if there is a database for this character, we prefer a link, actually- or you can elaborate on your own. If you have a few links but feel they don't give enough, or if you character is kind of lacking in the history department and you'd like to provide your own speculations, by all means! Just make sure you state what's canon and what's fanon, otherwise we'll have to assume you're trying to pull a fast one on us.

Personality: This here is the meat and potatoes of the application. This is the section we pick apart and pay most attention to; we want to know that you can really get into this character's head, that you can identify what motivates them as if they were real people. We want to see that you have put a lot of thought into this, and that you really have a desire to do this character justice. In the same breath, please try to have fun with this part! You finally get to talk someone's ear off about a character you want to play; take advantage of it!

Strengths: You can do this part in list format, paragraphs, w/e. Just give us a general idea of what your character is usually capable of. Also, keep in mind that some of these attributes -namely, the physical ones- will be toned down by about half in Luceti-land.

Weaknesses This is actually more important to us than the Strengths section, so please be thorough here. This section serves multiple purposes, so make sure you give a lot of thought to what flaws your character possesses.

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.) <--- This is a test to make sure you read the FAQ/premise/at least drilled a friend already in the game. If we ask for additional samples, we might note that you're free to make it canon or anything you want, but otherwise assume that we want them Luceti-verse. If you researched and still aren't sure what you can or cannot do in Luceti!land...make it up. This is just an app, after all, and if it's an issue we'll correct you when we accept the application.

First Person: There seems to be a lot of confusion on this one, so we'll be as specific as we can here. What we're looking for is a first person piece of your character; it can be either intentional or unintentional. For example:

I don't understand...how did I get here? I was...I think I was at Karen's, and she'd said I should take the guest room, but this...

Where am I?

or

[A soft rustle of leaves. There's a quiet sigh, then a shift of clothing against grass.] ...hello? Is anyone there?

What we DO NOT WANT is something like this:

[She sat up and looked around; the surroundings were very familiar.] Hello? [Standing up, she took a few steps towards the treeline.]

To summarize, not a log of their actions written in a strange mixture of third and first person. Completely first person. If you're still confused, we suggest you take advantage of the Q&A option.

Third Person: Make sure this is at least 300 words. If you run short, we're going to ask for an expansion. Also, make sure you pick a verb tense and stick with it; this section is to check overall writing ability, so we can sometimes get a little picky with it. You're more than welcome to be creative, however; just make sure that if you decide to work with a certain "style" or "theme," that you're damn sure it's a good one. Otherwise you'd have to rewrite the whole thing, and that is so very annoying.

These samples should be written in log-style, ie. the way third-person novels are written. Descriptive paragraphs, quotations for dialogue, the works.

General Advice

Please don't half-ass your application. Make a genuine effort; usually we can tell when someone actually tries from when they just crank out another page or so. Also, if you aren't sure that it's okay to joke around on the application, or to do cute things like omit personal information, then it's probably best that you don't, just so there aren't any misunderstandings. And...it's poor form to ask about an application's progress unless it's been a bit of time. On the application post, we request that applicants allow a week before asking a mod about their app; please adhere to that. It just really makes you look bad when you don't. Even if a mod is on and playing, that doesn't mean that they're doing applications at the moment; they might be tired, or maybe they're in-and-out and unable to sit down and read apps. Please just keep that in mind.

Physical Appearance (Here you can either link us to a picture or provide descriptive text): Or hell, do both! Spam us.

History: Be very, very, very thorough here. We want the entire life story. Since there is no canon for us to research, you are the main research source. Which means you need to be just as in-depth as wiki, wikia and fansites combined.

Personality: This here is the meat and potatoes of the application. This is the section we pick apart and pay most attention to; especially with this being an OC application. This is where you sell the character to us, convince us that he or she isn't just a self-insert or Mary Sue/Gary Stu. Use this section to the best of your ability, and be as tl;dr as possible.

Strengths: You can do this part in list format, paragraphs, w/e. Just give us a general idea of what your character is usually capable of. Also, keep in mind that some of these attributes -namely, the physical ones- will be toned down by about half in Luceti-land.
