(Voice & Text)Since we seem to be having issues lately concerning laws and arrest, I've done some research into the actual laws here in Discedo. It seems many have no idea about them. I went and found the actual written laws, as penned by a Miles Edgeworth, who no longer resides in the city. I'll recite them here for everyone, as well as put it in ( Read more... )

...You don't scare me nor do those silly laws scare me.

Last time I checked, the police force lacks a suitable governing body to even administer such laws.

So technically, that was all just crap you written up.

You're being stubborn over a bed. It makes you seem childish and the fool, and I could care less if I scare you. That wasn't the point of it, I was informing you of my coming home and what I expect when I arrive.

If the bed isn't where it belongs, I'll fix it when I get home.

[He sounds annoyed, but is trying to be civil. Honest.]

Listen up, sunshine! I don't care how stubborn you think I am or how childish you think I am, I am just stating the truth now.

How can you and the rest of the police force establish laws here in this town if there is no governing body established here to give you folks any kind of authority?

That makes no damn sense and you aren't getting the bed back.

You say that, but if anyone tried to establish this governing body there would be people arguing left and right about it and how it's wrong.

We have enough trouble trying to police things just like this, if we tried a government of any sorts, the people here would most likely rebel.

[Credo sighs heavily, he's tired of all this arguing, not with Luka but about laws and the like. Plus just work.]

... I'm not saying the laws are perfect, I'm just stating what we have currently.

The laws seem well within reason, but... I see nothing about sexual assault or battery. Or child or spousal abuse, for that matter. Those sorts of crimes should be mentioned.

Why are they not?

I do agree that those should be mentioned, at least pointed out better. You could easily assume they'd be in with assault, but assumptions can be dangerous.

These laws are the last written or confirmed ones I could find. It wouldn't be a bad idea to try and add more or clean them up.

I merely wanted to show the citizens what we did have.

Assumptions are extremely dangerous. They could technically fall under assault, but commonly are considered separate crimes, at least in my world.

Who would I speak to about the current laws? Someone in the police force?

... Hmm. Hughes would know whom to talk to.

Yes, I myself would see them as separate crimes as well. It's obvious the laws need some revising. I think at the time they merely wanted actual laws to have, before working on them... it just seems they were never revisited.

I'd say the police force, but I'm one of the officers in the force. I'd say speak to Minato, he's the head of our force. Though from what I understand, the man who penned these laws was a lawyer who previously had a stay in this city. It might work to speak to any lawyers here and Minato if you could.

[Reads through all of this with wide eyes. Riful has never seen so many complicated terms of 'don't kill or hurt people'. Not that it matters to her in particular, but...]

[Her frequency is just here. Chillin'.]

How do you guys enforce these laws?

Our number is small, and difficult to keep up with people coming and going so often in this city, but with the officers we have we do our best to enforce the laws listed.

Each situation must be handled differently, no two crimes are exactly the same mind you.

I know people here don't approve of our work, but we're not trying to be some sort of iron fist and constricting everything. We just want to have some resemblance of peace and safety for citizens.

I appreciate what you guys do, don't get me wrong. It can't be easy in a place like this. I just mean that, police are usually kind of the bottom of the law-enforcement ladder, you know? I was just wondering since there's no government or court system or anything like that in place, as far as I can tell...?

Thank you. I didn't mean to sound like I thought you didn't, but it's the general consensus.

There is nothing like that here, only the Police Force. The way people react over just that, I have a feeling if we tried for anything more, they would probably react violently. With so many different ideals and ways of life, because of people coming from different worlds, it's difficult enough to have us trying to police things. Trying to start a government could out right cause war of some sort... though I could be completely wrong.

The people here just seem to dislike any sort of ruling authority.

Oh... thank you for posting them... some people have been asking me.

I figured with the dispute over the 'countries' and people bringing up the laws so often, it would be good to have them up.

Honestly, someone posting them once in a while might be a good thing. It'll keep them fresh in people's minds.

Yes... I should do it next time, since it's my "job," I guess.

A good idea. I think if the same person did it over and over, people might start to ignore them completely.

[Whoops, good job Credo. Step on the poor girls toes why don't you?]

Sorry for that, I should have consulted you first?
