Since we seem to be having issues lately concerning laws and arrest, I've done some research into the actual laws here in Discedo. It seems many have no idea about them. I went and found the actual written laws, as penned by a Miles Edgeworth, who no longer resides in the city. I'll recite them here for everyone, as well as put it in text for those who don't understand English. I think a reminder or letting those who've never heard of the laws, would be good once in a while anyway.
Current laws in Discedo (penned by Miles Edgeworth):
I. Under no circumstances will homicide be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Murder; Including Felony and Capital Murder
• Manslaughter; Including Voluntary, Involuntary, and Reckless Manslaughter
• Criminal Homicide; Including Culpable and Criminally Negligent Homicide.
IA. Cases of justifiable homicide will be treated just as any other homicide. Verdicts of less severity may be available, when reviewed.
II. Kidnapping and/or hostage situations will not be tolerated. Such situations are punishable by the same standards as homicide.
III. Assault is a punishable offense. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Simple assault
• Aggravated assault
• Battery
• Deadly assault
IV. Property damage is a punishable offense. The buildings in this city are already quite decrepit and are in need of repair, not further damage.
V. Extortion and Blackmail are also punishable offenses.
Punishment would be handled on a case-by-case basis. The severity of the crime will dictate the severity of the punishment. Logical and accessible punishments could include the following (either stand-alone or in addition to one another):
○ Imprisonment; Terms would be limited, but decided based on the severity of the crime.
○ Replacement of Chip; This would affect those who have their chips removed and could use them as a means of force to escape their punishment, or cause harm to the city's residents.
○ Community Service; With the city in dire need of repair, this is an optimal punishment. This would include general rebuilding, aiding the mechanics and supply runners, and other services that would assist in getting the city into living condition.
○ House Arrest; Not an optimal idea, but an alternative to imprisonment, perhaps for less severe crimes. Terms would be decided in advance. Offender is free to move about in their own home, but is under strict surveillance at all times.
I would also like to add that these apply to everyone in Discedo. You are not exempt or treated differently based on your race, whether you have wings, horns, claws, are a man or woman, or happen to be a country. If you are in this city and you break any of these laws you will be treated the same as any and be held by the law accordingly
