Ten days ago (Wednesday, September 16) I downloaded and installed Nova 1.0. I think this was only a couple of days after general release. Something 17 years old makes me think of forever 17 Kikuko Inoue. That’s the thought in my head, anyway.

But today is the anniversary of my blog, which turns 17 today. It started in LiveJournal but migrated to Dreamwidth in 2010. There are over 7,400 journal entries. I guess I post a lot. I suppose I’ll always be an old-school blogger.

The two big computer things that I had wanted to get done with the ōsōji end-of-year cleaning was email and my blog. I got email under control on New Year’s Day. Today I completed my blog task.

I’ve been looking up a lot of old stuff... and I came across something that triggered the thought that my blog should be having a birthday this month. So I looked. Today my blog celebrates its 15th anniversary. My First Post was August 12, 2003 over at LiveJournal. In September 2010 I established an account at Dreamwidth but didn’t seriously begin my Move From LiveJournal to Dreamwidth until November 2012.

I (along with just about everyone else, I think) am perplexed about the new LiveJournal User Agreement we were forced to agree to in order retain access to our LiveJournals. Today, I think the key is to start small. Everyone can fight against bad content.

1) The best way you can defy crap content on their own is to write your own blog on your own platform. Don’t let threads, Facebook posts, and Medium take your words and your creative license. I’m as guilty of this as anyone, because it’s easier to write Facebook ( Read more... )
