I remember back in the prime days of LiveJournal, I had so many Friends that I actually had partitioned my Friends list into sublists, each with a slightly different level of interest/priority. I thought I should note... I hardly ever check my friends list in LiveJournal nowadays. I live in Dreamwidth, and I don’t have any reason to visit LJ. Most of the active friends in LJ also post to DW; it’s just a small minority of people whose LJ-only posts I never see. How non-observant am I? Last night I noticed that my Dreamwidth page header was missing the picture of the maneki neko salt shaker and Nikkor 105mm lens. I displayed the page HTML and the CSS file - and realized that the image is stored at My Website. When I deployed a completely new set of files, I wiped out (well... hid...) the old site images. Last Year I used BlogBooker to archive my Dreamwidth blog to PDF. This year, all I needed to do was add a file for 2020. I had made screenshots, so I knew exactly what settings to use.

I launched BlogBooker, and it almost immediately reported invalid credentials for logging into Dreamwidth. I did retries and then some other things like changing my ( Read more... )

Fancier, image-laden websites require more data, and although performance seems fine on my desktop, the site is sometimes oddly slow on my iPad. To lower the data transmission, I’ve reduced the size and the quality (imperceptibly, I think) of the images. The image data is roughly half of what it was.
