Epic Flail!

This episode didn't go where I expected it to - although that was fine as far as I was concerned! I wasn't at all surprised, in the end, that James decided to fall on his own sword and quit, even though he'd legally done nothing wrong...

I thought Cain was an over-confident idiot. He should've known that Claudia had had an affair with James - you can bet if Alesha had been working the case, SHE would've found it out!

I wondered if Matt felt just a little bit of pleasure at arresting James - after all, it's barely a month since James made Matt out to be incompetent and naive in 'Anonymous', and they've never been as friendly as James and Ronnie.

I'm disappointed but unsurprised that James and Alesha didn't get to kiss at the end. Such rotten old teases, those L&O: UK writers!

Damn, I'm going to miss James/Ben - and not just because I ship James/Alesha.

I think Matt got a bit of perverse satisfaction from confronting James over his harrowing questioning of Ronnie and then he being the one to arrest James.

Samuel Cain/Tobias Menzies did a very good job as the smug lawyer in this episode. I know a few lawyers who act just like him! I hope he stays on.......partly because there is no way Alesha would fancy him so she will have to turn her attentions back to Matt! *ahem*

Excellent acting by the cast especially Bradley, Natalie, Matt and James. I will really miss James/Ben but I have hope for whomever replaces him.

The West Indian security guard serial killer was especially chilling for me cuz as a West Indian, you hear about people who think just like this guy even if they don't act like he did

Haven't seen it yet, but I saw the screencaps on Freema Web. Love that website. It looks like James is saying a poignant goodbye to Alesha and while she is on the phone he just walks away. There is a photo of Alesha gazing up at James with a wistful smile that (the pose) is just gorgeous. Their faces are very close in the photo almost like there is a kiss in the air and they change their minds--because her phone rings. We will probably see the episode in the early spring, but I'm in no rush to see James go, so while I Will Not avoid spoilers and don't mind them, in fact, since I work alot and miss shows I devour spoilers! -- it's Law and Order, for heaven's sake, so there aren't any great mysteries to uncover, they either win or case or lose it--I'm in no great hurry to watch James go, so it will be fun to watch the episodes, unfold in order.

I'm not a criminal or serial killer lol ayajedi December 12 2010, 23:39:25 UTC
sorry, I should have made myself clear. In the West Indies, I have come across people who express similar views to this guy; cut off the hands of burglars, hang rapists and molestors in the public square, shoot criminals onsight, give people who watch porn a good flogging etc, everything is all wrong because people have turned away from God etc etc. However they don't act on their words of course.
I was able to relate to the security guy's character both as a West Indian and his views even though they are so different from my own. It's hard to explain

I didn't think you were, I was just confused by the statement. I read a synopsis and transcript of the show, and I can't wait to see it played out , especially the last bit with James and Alesha. That sounded perfect. have come across people who express similar views to this guy; cut off the hands of burglars, hang rapists and molestors in the public square, shoot criminals onsight, give people who watch porn a good flogging etc He sounds really scary, but that is not an attitude you will find in not just the West Indies. Maybe some people are just angry that their life isn't what they want it to be, so they came down really hard on people who appear to break rules. There are many people across cultures in the US . would advocate "eye for an eye" justice, and look around the world at some cultures where there is stoning for adultery, or scaring of females. There are some gangs, para-military groups, and underground societies who have scarier rules for breaking with their group or faith. Me I believe "eye for an eye" can mean ( ... )

While I understand this scenario was written to pave the way out for James, I did find it surprising that George and Cain haven't done a better job uncovering who actually received and signed for the damn witness statement in the first place. I understand that James was the lead, so he still felt responsible either way, but James finds out no problem that it was Claudia who received the package, while the CPS team hasn't even tracked down the clerk who received the package in the first place. That's just sloppy.

And Alesha actually lied (and quite well) on the stand for James. I probably would've done the same, but it's slippery slope.

Also, between Ronnie and Matt, I think it had to be Matt arresting James. I don't think neither was necessarily happy to be charging James with anything (they were both seen smiling when James got off at the end), regardless of what has happened in Anonymous - I actually think Ronnie was more to blame for how hard Matt had to fall for that case since James was just being his usual, rather ruthless ( ... )

I was actually pondering this, and maybe someday I'll be bored enough to start keeping track and confirm it, but I think Matt does most of the actual arresting, just on percentages. It just seems to fit with his younger, more hard-ass, more aggressive persona.

Now, I can't wait to see it. She gets found out she's out of a job. I think there was a L&O SUV, when it seemed like, because of a character's vindictive relative, everyone almost got fired.

That probably won't happen, since Alesha got away with it. The question she lied on was more of whether James has ever asked her to do anything she was not comfortable with ethically (and he has just asked her to steal the files for him), and she said no. That was definitely a lie, but it could be taken as subjective, I suppose.
