On with the awesome (I could use some of that). I'll be neither obscure, nor the least bit surprising with my next choice. It's Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager, (who, oddly, seems to sit quite nicely next to Bea. I feel they'd get along).

Is this a ship of the Valkyries? )

I agree, Janeway is awesome. "Listen to me very carefully, because I'm only going to say this once. Coffee, black."
I still remember how much talk there was before the show aired about having a female Captain in a Star Trek spinoff. People doubted that Janeway would be a believable leader. But Kate Mulgrew owned the role right away, and from day one she was a Starship Captain. A strong, capable, female Starship Captain.

Oh no - I've stopped being old, obscure and British! I must revert to type quickly...
Yes, have you seen thse clips with the original Captain they cast? They so needed Kate Mulgrew! (And hard to believe there could be such debate over a female captain in the mid 1990s. Crazy...)
And,, yes, there seem to be some amazing Voyager vids out there. That's a great one I don't think I'd seen, so thanks.
(Here, have Tom and B'Elanna in return!)
