On with the awesome (I could use some of that). I'll be neither obscure, nor the least bit surprising with my next choice. It's Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager, (who, oddly, seems to sit quite nicely next to Bea. I feel they'd get along).

Day Five: Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew)

"Fear exists for one purpose: to be conquered"

So, picture this: I've decided that Star Trek is not for me, a frivolous DW fan. It's all a bit earnest and po-faced (and, you know what, they keep going back to base all the time! Call that the Final Frontier?) and then I walk in and find my housemate watching Voyager...

Janeway is awesome: Voyager is her first command and she's become stranded in the farthest part of the galaxy with no allies and half a crew who belong to the Maquis, not Star Fleet. There's no going back to base for Voyager. There may be no going home at all. And she still finds time not just to shoot up a lot of pesky aliens (she does follow Star Fleet protocol first, of course, but woe betide them if they annoy her or mess with her ship), but to have fun, flirt, and pursue her caffeine addiction. No wonder Q wants to marry her (but she's got no time for being romanced by an immortal, thanks. There may be coffee in the next nebula...).

I love the way she interacts with the rest of the crew, too: she has quite distinct but important relationships with each of them.

And now, I've been sucked in and I keep ending up watching ST things. Drat...

Day One: Soolin (B7)
Day Two: Dayna Mellanby (B7)
Day Three: Michelle of the Resistance (Allo Allo)
Day Four: Beatrice Eliott (House of Eliott)
